What would be your choice for a handgun, be it automatic or revolver for a gun that you would keep on you pretty much at all times possable. being a backup ccw when you carry your main gun or a primary when you are wearing just a pair of shorts in the summer. I've asked this question a few times before and recieved several answers. I have had the Kel-Tec P-32 recomended. I have also heard a J-frame .38 would be best. I have an old 3" model bulldog 44spl and though it is a 19 oz gun, I beleive iit could do the job. What would you pick and why. (you are not limited to these three)

The reason you've received several answers is that there are several correct answers. A P32, P3AT, airweight .38, .357 if you have some big brass ones, glock 26, maybe some of the Kahr (I'm not too familiar with the line). Any of these will do on a general basis. But the question is what fits you? What do you feel comfortable with? What do you shoot better? What do you like more? Which can YOU conceal? No one but you can answer these questions.

Greeting's All-

If my daily attire doesn't allow for something larger,
I can be found toting my NAA .22 magnum with
the 1-1/8" barrel. It's comfortable, lightweight, and
easily concealed.

Best Wishes,

I live in MD so I don't have an always gun because I can't have any gun on my person outside the house:fire: so my always gun is a Kershaw knife and a tube of pepper spray.

When I am in a CCW state I plan to make my Taurus 85CH and Bersa .380 my alternating always guns (with the snub probably going out a bit more often). If I find the weight to be a bit too much for backup or pocket use in all day carry situations I'll probably switch the snub to a lightweight aluminum model and I may switch the auto to a Kahr PM9. If I find even that to be too much, or too big, for daily backup and always in some weather situations (I doubt that but you never know) I'll probably go with something like the new Kel-tec .380 or the older NAA Guardian in .380 or .32 and the Beretta Tomcat in .32acp is another possibility.

Ruger SP-101 in 357, Uncle Mike's boot grips. A little heavy, but shoots very well and for that I'll happily tote the extra weight.
It also will fit in a front jeans pocket. That really helps increase it's utility.

SP-101 right now in a homemade pocket holster, right front pocket. I just picked up a Kahr PM9 though. IF it runs as well as I think it will, it will take its place. Couple extra rounds, quite a few ounces lighter..

Although it might make me seem out of touch with modern technology, I will still carry my PPK most of the time when a larger more powerful firearm is not possible due to clothing restrictions. It ain't fancy, and it holds a paltry 7 rounds of puny 380 ammo, but it is dead bang reliable and accurate enough for any encounter. Old technology, SS construction, equals IMO perfectx combo.

I don't have a always gun but i do always carry one.It could be my 3" 65-3,2" 15-2, or my 2.75" security 6. Whatever i feel like puting on at the time.

We all have different situations!

But, my two daily carry pieces are a ParaOrd LDA Companion, on duty..and a customized Colt LW Officer's model off duty. One or the other is normally with me....I have another Officer's stashed in a bolted down lock box in the trunk of the car. I like them small .45's!
I have a S&W 'Jay' .38 that I carry as a 'back up', which may soon be replaced by the Kahr PM9. That looks like a mighty fine 'always' gun, and the ones I have fired are awesome! Reports from owners are glowing, so....
That will be the next one!

My "always" gun is my full size Kimber .45ACP. My backup is a Beretta Model 21 in .22LR. As soon as I save enough pennies I'm going to get a CZ 83 in .380 as my B/U.

ALA DAN do you feel comfortable with your NAA Mini? Mine was a .22 Magnum Mini Revo with the short barrel. I carried it for a long time in a Ray Ban sunglass case on my belt but my cronies all laughed at it. So I chickened out and sold it. They all chuckled at it until they heard it go bang and produce a fireball the size of a soccer ball, if it couldn't kill any thing, it would scare you to death. Dam thing sounded like a .357 when it went off.
Wish now I'd kept it, great conversation piece.
I don't think I ever sold a gun that I didn't wish I'd kept. Oh yeah there was one, an S&W 340PD. That was the most expensive POS I ever owned, sold it at a big loss and never looked back.

My always gun is a little Beretta 950. If attire permits, I'll move up from there to j-frame or USPc or USP

I use the KelTec P32 as my "American Express" handgun, either as a backup to my primary carry or as an "only gun" at work in shorts.

I do have an airweight snubbie, but the P32 is much easier to carry in the pocket. The revolver prints in a fairly obvious fashion; the P32 is just about undetectable.

My always is a S&W 340. Winchester 130 gr +P. Carried in my right front pocket.

Speed strip in the left front pocket.
