I believe th gun is

A preban WB-74 phased pulse pistol with the combo tac-brake/field dampener installed. 300 watt/2000 amp enough power to bring down a martian boar. Thats my guess. Dan Cooper

Looks like the prototype Acme RD-1.21 (RD stands for Romulan Disruptor and the 1.21 represents the power output in Gigawatts). From what I can gather it's powered by a dilithium/anti-matter matrix pack with warp assist. It was developed at a secret division of Spacely Sprockets for sale to the Rebel Alliance, and was an outgrowth of some stolen Empire Turbo-Laser technogoly. It's currently in test deployment aboard BattleStar Galactica. How the martians got one should make for an interesting investigation.
