Does anyone know of a way to pull a 50 cal bullet with out marring it?
A friend suggested using a clamp for a flaring tool to grip the bullet and somehow use a rifle press but I have no way to afix the case to the ram for pulling. I do not even think they make a collet puller for 50 but again, I do not want to mar the bullet if I can help it.
I have several spent brass with standard ball bullets pressed in. You know the inert decorative kind. I struck a deal with a fellow gun nut and he gave me 100 in trade. Now I just need to figure out how to get them apart as the brass is LC '04 and WCC '07 and '08. I was thinking I could build a large kinetic hammer using some heavy walled pipe.
Thoughts?

I have pulled some using a split set collar to clamp to the bullet.

Used to stick the projectile into an end connector hole on the M60A1 tank tread and push on the case from side to side till the projectile was loose enough to pull out. Did this to make mini morters but truthfully I did not look real close at the "tracer bullet" which got launched shortly afterwards.
I did one down here by placing the projectile wrapped in a layer of leather in my bench vise and again pushed on the varios sides of the case head till I could pull it off the projectile which was undamaged. Case neck gets belled a bit.

drill a hole in a 2x4 whereas only the neck will go through and the shoulder bottoms out. Hold it temporarily in with tape or something and use it like a kinetic style puller hammer. Modify/Improve the "hammer" as necessary as you go. Almost free. We did this but only used it to do 3 for a project
