I have come across some phone cable that has a very heavy lead sheath around the wires, I was wondering if anyone knows about this stuff and if the lead would be hard enough to cast with.

I can probably get 1500 or 2000 pounds of the stuff they guy only wants the copper and I have figured a way to easily separate it from the lead, just wondering if it is worth the effort.

Thanks for the help

yep , get it you can cast soft 38s with it & always add wheel weights to it 50/50 to make a nice mid load boolit!!!
muzzle casters are always looking for pure lead.

When I first went to work for the phone company in 1963, lead sheath cable was very common, even though plastic sheath cable had started to replace it by then.

The sheath is almost pure lead. You should get all you can, as pure lead is getting harder and harder to obtain. You can trade it to black powder shooters for alloy that is too hard for their use, but right for casting handgun bullets. Or you can also alloy it yourself.

Hope this helps.
