I'm interested in lead-free ammo for .22LR and .22MAG. AFAIK, right now Winchester and CCI are the only companies to offer this. Is there anything else out there?

Thanks!

The link provided is for a primer free, not lead free load. In certain areas in Cali, you have to have lead free bullets so the condors don't get sick (not my law just the way it says it). AFAIK the winchester tin rounds, which really have bad accuracy for me, are the only .22LR lead free. As far as .22 Mag I thought hornady was loading one, but that may have been their .17 HMR.

edit: oops powder not primer, my experience with remington ammo must have clouded my typing.

primer free?
remington rimfire has quality control issues, but that's pretty harsh!

the only lead-free round I'm aware of is "CCI green tag"

In CA in the lead-free condor zones, lead is a no-no, but rimfire still has exemptions. You can hunt game animals, but no non-game. You can shoot a tree squirrel with lead, but not a ground squirrel. The logic is that you will take the game animal with you and the condors won't eat it.

Wichester's JHP Tin in 22lr hasn't been real accurate for me. The CCI TNT Green in 22wmr has been extremely accurate, but too destructive to small game. My favorite is the 17 Mach 2, Hornady has just released their NTX non-lead for it. It is a tack driver. Hornady has had the NTX out for a while in 17hmr.

Just bought 9 boxes of 17m2 non-lead for about $8/box of 50.

Makes no difference if you take your game animal with you or not. Never recovered a .22lr bullet from any small game animal.

SHHHHHH! ! ! ! Don't say this too loudly. The Green Folk are always near by. And I'm not talking about leprichauns..... :D

Of COURSE it's ludicrous to expect even a .22 to stay within the carcase of any smaller game animal. It's just another indicator that the folks making up the rules don't really have a clue.

The intent of these regulations was based on people control, not science.
