Gentlemen,

Who do you highly recommend for a custom made, black leather 1 1/2", gun belt with the ability to comfortably carry a full size 1911, 2 mags and a flashlight with fairly quick turnaround time. I may even consider shark. *** Thank you all in advance for your sage advice.

I have a 1 1/2" belt in 10/12 oz leather I bought from Andy Langlois ([email protected]). A great, heavy belt around 18 mos old with no sign of wearing out. I highly recommend the heavier strap if you're hanging equipment on it. Andy was very responsive in email and handled a custom holster promptly. The belt supports a 1911 OWB without sagging.

Here's a plug for Lenwood Leather. I've been wearing one of his Hybrid Belts for about 5 years. It replaced a Galco that want back for warranty replacement every year for separation of the backing.

Another vote for Beltman. I have a black leather belt from them going on 8 years now and still in great shape. If you really like a stiff belt add the internal stiffener to the belt.

3rd vote for the Beltman. I use one of his belts to CCW a Glock 23 & spare mag. He has quick ship belts & factory seconds that are great. He offers horse hide too. I carried a 1911 on an Aker B21 for about 3 years. That belt worked very well for the price (currently $61.50). If you can squeeze a few more dollars out, Beltman. I've got one, and it's clearly a step up from the Aker.

No complaints about the Belt I have from the Beltman. It's sturdy and the appearance is nice enough that I've used it as a dress belt.

In order of comfort, I'd rate them Galco, Beltman, A&G.
In order of holster support, I'd rate them Beltman, A&G, Galco.

Another vote for bullhide belts here. I wore my first one for 7 years and could have still been wearing it had I not lost 70 lbs. Currently wearing a new one from them now.

I'll second that -- I've got two and I use them whether or not I'm carrying.

It looks like Alien Gear has discontinued their own branded version of the Bigfoot belts. REALLY hard to beat for the money.
