Looks like Lee updated their hand priming tool.

http://www.leeprecision.com/html/catalog/primtool.html

Two aspects are interesting. First, they stopped saying you cannot use Federal primers. From their website, this sounds interesting:

The new Auto-Prime XR eliminates the primer brand restriction so any brand primer is now usable.

The new Auto-Prime XR features a patent pending elevator pin. This pin safely separates a single primer from the others and presents it for priming reducing the likelihood of a chain fire.

Second, the square trays will sure make it easier to load primers. They knew a good idea when they stole it. I wonder if they used the same bump pattern as the updated safety prime system. That new "bump pattern" sure makes it easy to flip primers.

It's fine that they changed their design, but I don't think I'll be buying new ones until my old ones break. And that may be a while....

I've had my original Auto-Prime since about '01, when I started handloading. I've primed tens of thousands of cases with it, and when the lever broke a few years back, Lee just sent me a replacement handle and I was back in business.

Like you, I probably won't be buying the new one anytime soon, as long as the one I have continues to chug away. However, I am not averse to someone gifting me the new one. :D

I think I'll buy one so I don't have to change back and forth between large and small primers....

--------aw, c'mom. that's half the fun ;>. I have probably watched a thousand hours of baseball/football while handpriming my handgun loads. This is a great tool. (but I still ain't buying a new one 'til my old ones wear out!)

That's what I'm thinking.

But what will I do with the LP new style ram and SP old style or vice versa?

Justin

I just ordered one on fleabay, $16.95 plus $5 & change for shipping, I like the idea of the single feed elevator pin.
