Well thought after buying the Lee Auto-Prime XR that I would be well into priming the 300 or so spent cases I have but have run into an issue I hope the wisdom on THR can help with.

Almost every shell casing I've tried to prime the primer goes in crooked. I mean I'm having to grip the primer like Arnold S to get it to seat and most don't.

I'm using Remington (7.5) small rifle primers
What am I doing wrong. Is it supposed to have that much wiggle room in the shell holder?

Is there a better primer I should look into buying?

Thanks for you help!

Sounds like the primer pockets are crimped but I would first make sure the column of primers in the channel are cup side down and check that primers are entering the pre-chamber and priming station properly (see blue arrows in the picture below).

If the primers are cup side down and properly positioned but still having priming problem, I would check to see if the primer pockets are crimped or crimps not sufficiently removed. Comparison picture below shows crimped primer pocket cases on the left and factory uncrimped cases on the right
