lee autoprime handle broke

... see if placing the force closer to the pivot will help avoid another break.

Actually, you don't need to. Even using the tighter Wolf/PMC primers, I start with light thumb pressure and once I feel primer is in the pocket, I apply pressure with two thumbs. With the tighter Wolf/PMC primers, I need the mechanical advantage.

As long as you don't force the handle when there is definite resistance, the handle should not break. The resistance is usually due to primer to pocket misalignment or military crimped primer pocket.

10 to 20,000 rounds is about my limit until the handle breaks. They will give you a new one for half the costs. I have 3 in rotation right now so when I ship them in I usually send 2 now.

The interesting thing is that the finish work has really dropped over the last decade or so. New ones are no where near as nicely finished as old ones.

here is what they look like broke.

OP, PM me your address and I'll send you a handle I have. I bought that tool and it didn't work with my RCBS shell holders so it's sitting in a box.

I have been buying from Lee since the 1960s. I once had a Lee Classic reloader (all could afford at the time) for 30-06, I then got a 8mm 06 rifle (common conversion back then) and sent the die in to Lee asking if they could take it out to 8mm and give me a price. Few days later, I got the converted 8mm 06 die back with NC for work or shipping. Decided then I could swim the river with Lee, and have done so since.
