Is there something the mec does that is $200 better?

Every. Single. Step.

I have both presses. The lee works, as to how well it works is questionable , but the best analogy I can give you for it is that it’s like the easy bake oven of shotgun loaders. Once you use a mec 600jr you will be kicking yourself for having spent the money on the lee.

Yea but to add an auto primers feed it will cost you an additional $107. Also more $$ to convert to another gauge. IMO all that to get the same results from a less expensive machine.

No need for the auto prime on either machine. If you have used both presses then you would know that they do not produce the same results. Yes they both Make shotshells, but one does a better job and does it more efficiently and precisely.

At two rounds/min w/o the primer feed, I don't need it.
As to less expensive/non-adjustable -- repent at leisure (but I said that )

Mec- adjust the precrimp and final crimp dies

Lee- push harder on the handle. I’m my experience this leads to bulging around the crimp that can cause trouble chambering a round.

On my MEC Jrs, I have the old lamp chain primer feeds that work perfectly; they should be fairly inexpensive on Ebay or similar.
My Grabber has the newer 200 primer feed; works well also.

Why the rush, have somewhere to go, handloading is suppose to be enjoyable. Primer feeds are most desirable, ask all the metallic loaders, seems like cover for the short falls of the MEC. Same results.

No, I don’t buy during panics. I prefer my money to have as much buying power as possible. Right now is the time to sell things one doesn’t want though as there are people that are more than happy to pay the current inflated prices.

There are some people that might have kept them despite trying to sell them in the past. I can’t to all the work for the OP but joining and contacting this guy that had two to sell for $75 and see if he still has them sitting around, might not be a bad idea. If he’s in that part of New Jersey.

How do you put components away after reloading?
With the MEC, you have 2 separate bottles for powder & shot.
With the Lee?????

I am 70 I have been reloading with a mec 600 jr since 1976. I have acquired a total of 4 Mecs. They are common you can find them used, parts readily available. save your self lots of hassles. get WWCF or WWHS hulls, or remington hulls.(Hull available for free in trash at most shotgun ranges) makes reloading much easier. Lyman Manual you ordered is the bible of shotshell reloading . You can ask questions here or on Shotgun world forum reloading subforum.
