Lee Turret and Dies? Storage?

Been reloading 9mm on my Lee Classic Turret and just got a new turret plate and .38/.357 dies.

I have been looking for something to place the turret plate/dies in to keep them safe and able to store away on the shelf.

Does anyone have pics, links to something they use to keep them in?

I can't find it but a recent post showed a neat setup with an L-shaped bit of pipe bolted to the wall, coming out and up, that the turret/dies rested on.

Did the dies come in a round box?

I keep mine a toolbox (15"x7"x7") which fits seven sets of reloading dies, mounted in their turrets inside their plastic storage cylinders, ready to plug into the press and use.

If I had fewer dies or a larger toolbox, I could put a piece of plywood with 4" holes cut in it to hold the containers from shifting around.

I do what #9 does, but dont put the top on any of the ones I keep a Powder drop on. I keep the Pro Auto-Disc on each of my handgun ones (9,49,45,357) and keep the cover on all my rifle ones (223,308. 300WM, 22-250)

I use the regular size plastic coffee cans. Put everything else associated with the caliber in with it. Write the caliber with black marker on outside by the "grip area" . Sealed and stackable.

Not made for the Lee turrets but it would be easy to make one that would work.

Duct Tape has yet another use!

As it turns out, Duct Tape has another use to add to its repertoire. In this case, it is not the tape itself, but the cardboard core on which it is sold.

The inner diameter of the core is just large enough to accommodate the turret lugs and just small enough that the upper flange sits atop the roll.

Three-inch PVC pipe apparently has the same dimension, so works as well.

Please note that if you have the older style Lee round die box that they sell the dies in (three die holes and one spot for the shell holder and a dipper) you can use it to store your turrets.

It will accommodate the turret with dies mounted. But they fit better if you turn the bottom of the die box over.

Storage

Well I use a REDDING turret press and keep them all in tupperware containers in a backless cabinet bought at a yard sale for $10.00. There is also a small foam rubber block inside they rest on. 20 years for this operation, no rust. I do however dust everything down with a brush loaded with 'SHEATH' - This old fashion shaving brush was new from Wally World, and is used for NOTHING else. I have the same operation for guns, that brush used for NOTHING but guns. Brushes stored in small containers that Crystal Light came in. :

wm has some plastic containers with a clip lid there stackable i have 6 that i put my lee set up's in, cost around $2.50 ea

Alliant 1 lb Powder Bottles are about the right size

All my Alliant 1 lb powder containers still have powder in them, but it appears to be the right size in which you could store a turret if you cut the top off.

Bob, Bob, Bob, you're just showing off now.

That looks really nice!

I ain't satisfied with my current storage method for my SDB conversions kits. I put all of the little stuff back into the box they came in. But I'm just putting the tool heads into a ziplock bag :barf: and that looks awful. I may borrow your idea and see if I can come up with something like that.

This is the #7 idea mentioned above from another post. I like this one, but I'd need two or three tiers to it.

Thanks for the responses. I'll check out HomeDepot and see with I can find in the PVC section.

I need to get a better system. I have a powder measure on all of my turret and die setups.
Continuing on with the pvc theme, you could center a short length of 3" pvc pipe in the center of another, longer length of pvc pipe large enough in diameter to enclose the powder measure, too, and long enough to contain the full height of the assembly.

Cap the thing and it becomes a completely self-contained storage unit.

Just one solution.

Another is to get a toolbox large enough to accommodate as many turrets as you have and put a false bottom in it. Cut 3" holes in the false bottom and you are all set.

I like enclosability and portability.

"I need to get a better system. I have a powder measure on all of my turret and die setups."

I am just getting started with the LCT and I hate to get too tied up into a system for storage when I can see that I might be headed this way. Please post if you come up with a way to store the dies, turrets and powder measure.

Be specific, please.

I don't understand your question. If these are not posts of ways to store the dies in turrets, I don't know what would be. Storage with the powder measure mounted has also been addressed in a few of the posts.

In the interest of exploring your question more specifically, as I understand it, you expect to have more than one turret, each with Auto-Disk powder measure (Pro-Autodisk or standard?) attached and want to store and protect them. Do you prefer enclosed/covered or open/uncovered? How many turrets?

I have mine (7) in a toolbox, which makes it very easy to transport them or put them away. But if you want to hang them on a wall, that is a totally different approach.

Be as specific as you can. I love a puzzle and designing things is fun.
