I am wondering if there is a semi-auto "SMG" out there that is legal. Meaning, no stock, classified as a pistol, but with a detachable 30rd magazine. Kind of like the AR-15 pistols, except not one of those because they look pretty goofy IMO. And not just a normal pistol with an extended magazine. Basically, something that looks and acts like a small SMG, except isn't fully auto, and isn't an SBR. And I'm thinking 9mm for the caliber.

Any ideas?

Don't forget the PS90.

I have both the PS90 and UZI. The PS90 isn't a 9mm but I love the design. The UZI is fun for just shooting stuff, like coke cans and printers.

Why are there no Uzi pistols that look like original full-size Uzis but with no buttstock and semi-automatic only?

Lusa pistol. It's a clone of the Portugese HK knock-off. Made on the original Portugese tooling.

The coolest one that I saw

was, and I could be wrong here, a semi auto MP5.

Seems like I've seen a semi-auto pistol version of the M3 greasegun.
Only outward difference is no provision for the Wire stock.
Theres also a Pistol version of the Semi-Auto Thompsons. It has the vertical foregrip and looks basically like a thompson with the detachable buttstock removed except theres no rails for attaching a buttstock.

Another Route...

I wanted something similar, but I went with .22rf rather than 9mm. I ended up with the two goodies pictured below. NOW I no longer am interested in such, and sticking with collecting the OLD cheapie, single-shot rifles and pistols. I'll be putting these up for auction soon. Interests change...

Auto-Ordnance Thompson 1927A3 and Italian-made "Bingham" PPS-50.

In regards to the SP89 I was at a gun show a week ago and saw one in a case 1200.00, I thought "this is a steal" because normally they go for over 3000.00 upon further inspection I found the manufacturer SW also known as 'Special Weapons".......

Yeah, it was a letdown.

Southern Ohio Guns currently has a used Norinco Uzi clone going for just under a grand (if I remember correctly, dont have the flyer here at work) in thier latest flyer.

There's a link above to Valkery Arms (I know I mispelled it). I've never dealt with them but from what I've seen, heard & read from several sources, I'd be very careful dealing with Val.

That SP89 is pretty sweet. Any ideas why there isn't a move towards something like that now the ban is over?
Because basically semi auto "subguns" suck.

They don't have the advantages of real subguns (full auto and a stock) but they have all the disadvantages (crappy sights, crappy triggers, crappy ergonomics).

You'd be better off with a Glock 17 and a couple Glock 18 magazines.

I have a buddy that has a Tech-9. Never seen it fired, but it looks like a cheep piece of crap. But he specifically moved to a dumpy county where this weapon was not considered illegal. All becasue of this gun.... which looks like it sucks. But who could know for sure?

Another thought on semi auto SMG clones. The only ones that aren't COMPLETE CRAP are extremely expensive (note that in my first post I linked a bunch of Gunbroker Auctions).

For what a quality semi auto SMG clone would cost you, you could be in an SBR'd AR15 and have a gun that is both significantly cooler and a better shooter. ;)

But why? what is the excuse your legislative vermin have used to prevent you from one of those fine weapons?

I think it has to do with the length of the barrel...

I tried and was told by a very reputable store that they were not legal....

I have not pursued it since... I want one though. You're right though, fine weapon indeed!
