Legitimate Wars?

hmmm.

Odd that the liberal media never really meantioned December 20th, 1983 meeting between Rumsfield and Saddam in Baghdad. Shortly after the meeting, Iraq was given the ok to purchase 60 Hughes helicopters and 10 Bell Huey's. In 1984, Iraq was ok'd for 45 Bell 214ST helo's. An unspecified number of the helo's (all three purchases) were factory modified for "crop dusting".

Rumsfield's second visit on March 24th 1984 was the same day of the usage of Tabun (a nerve gas) and mustard gas on Iranian troops.

For something even more interesting, look up the country that manufactured those 36 empty chemical mortar shells that have thus far been the only evidence of WMD's in Iraq.

Just something to consider.

say, idd......

I believe that you might be oversimplifying here:

************************************************************
"President William McKinley solemnly intoned that it was America's duty to "civilize and Christianize" the natives, ignoring that they been largely Catholic for over three centuries. This war is all but forgotten in the United States (outside of the Military Order of the Carabao), but not in the Phillipines."
************************************************************

Two points:

Wouldn't the intonation of McKinley have been aimed at the Moros on Mindanao, who were indeed non-christians and required a bit more "civilizing" than the average Filipino?

The Phillipines came to highly value their relationship with the U.S. and by the time of WWII fought doggedly alongside the U.S. until the fall of Corregidor, and then continued fighting as irregulars with U.S. support until the end of the war.
I do believe your assessment of Phillipine 'remembrance' of the insurrection is exaggerated. ;)

Second, you are referring to Ramzi Yousef, born 27 April 1968 in Kuwait, and nephew of Khalid Sheikh Mohammad. In September 1992 he flew to New York on a false Iraqi passport which he had purchased in Peshawar for $100. After the attack on the WTC, Yousef fled to Pakistan, where he was arrested by the FBI on 8 February 1995. Good topic, but one without an answer. The only battle that I know of that is legitimate is the one between good and evil. The only thing is, many times it is unclear as to who the players are.

Religious wars, which this is, tend to be very brutal. This one extends over many centuries. Regardless of how legitimate our present situation might, or might not be, we will be forced to fight this war regardless of our viewpoints. We can fight it on the enemies territory, or we can wait and fight it within the bounds of the U.S. Your choice... It won't go away.
