Actually, there is. He is making a traffic stop and has every right to secure his own safety. If you want to reach in a compartment in your car and grab a handgun during a traffic stop (which I would have had to do to reach my registration and insurance paperwork), go ahead. I don't think you will like the result as much as you would just letting him ensure his own safety the easy way. Then again, you outrage would probably only last a brief period of time.
