Less then a buck recoil pad.

Stock is now painted, 2 or 3 light coats over the whole stock and a misting to cover up the bedding with rustoleum flat black, then with kakhi and espresso I did a few strips at a angle over the stock, then sponged on the forest green then espresso and more kakhi then blended them some. Finally I did 2 coats of matte clear, the pictures are before the clear was put on. All paint was the rustoleum 2x paint and matte clear rustoleum.

They didn't have the normal dark brown camo paint so that's why I got the espresso, it's the same 2x paint. They had a light green to but I didn't really like that reminded me of old fiberglass boat stuff lol. The espresso is a nice dark brown tho it's not flat maybe Satin.

I'm finding that I like the effect of adding a satin or even gloss to my paint schemes.

I'm going to steal your idea and your camo pattern for a build I have coming up. A lightweight hiking rifle. Probably a ruger but whatever is cheapest may change that.
Ruger would probably be a good start, not sure how light the new Americans are from the first Gen, I know guys would get them pretty light. A howa mini maybe a good choice to I see stockys still have the blem carbon stocks. Definitely use some spray foam in the butt stock to glue the pad on better.

Most of the weight is in the bolt lol. I used to have weights on the barreled action from an 06, but i cant remember now. I can extrapolate the weight of a short action with ar bolt after i take apart the ARC again.
Getting them much under 6lbs will take some work or a stubby barrel, but should be doable.

Matte clear adds some sheen but doesn't make it shiny, IMHO.
Ive done several stocks w it.

As for flip flops..... never tried a pair, never will.

Might as well chop one up for use on a project IMHO.
Do wonder how gun oil/solvents might affect.

Ops stock looks good 👍

I think being a synthetic stock there is less chance of getting oil and solvents, I used to work at a car dealer when I was 15-16 and would wash and detail cars, I wore flip flops most of the time at least in summer and they would hold up pretty good considering all the cleaners and oils they would get on them. If the pad dose get messed up it's cheap and easy to replace.

We called them thongs. So your an anti thong person. Glad we will never see a thong on you.

I just realized troy missed a perfect opportunity to paint stock bannana hammock yellow........

All kidding aside, when can we see the complete rifle!
I put the gun together I just need to take some pictures, I really messed up my nee yesterday and can't hardly walk right now. It looks good tho, think manners or McMillan had a stock back in the day like this.
