A simple 2 knife combo “Knives of Alaska”. I was Younger and got what was good enough. High Carbon steel and they worked ok (High maintenance)until I broke a tip off on splitting a pelvic bone of a WhiteTail. I had fixed it and kept using it. The set I still have ,yet recently upgraded to a very nice Fallkniven Nl5 with Laminated Vg10. Extraordinarily Sharp and Looks good also. I’ve got other knives ,yet wanted a Dedicated “Quality Hunting knife”. Just Treated the leather so it can resist blood stains.
I’ll get photos of the Combo I used for years, Yet here is a photo of the new one. It doubles as a daily carry as well :)

So what’s your old or new Hunting knife ?

Depending where ya hunt. A Small saw is very helpful to have.

Moras are inexpensive and very good for skinning and breaking an animal down.

We raised Boer goats for meat. As any hunter will tell you, there may not be any meat in the freezer after hunting season. OTOH, when you raise goats that weigh as much or more as a large whitetail you are going to be breaking several down during the year and the Mora did a great job with that.

Ya it's been working good the last few years, I like the thinner tip on the 2000 for separating the muscle groups. Got it from a local knife shop for $20 otd now there like $35+ think he said they had another I should pickup lol.

If anyone needs me to post a picture of a Buck 119 let me know. I've got a few belt knives that are good to very good quality. But honestly. The 119 gets used far and away the most. It just works so good for me and my big hands.

I'd like if the mora 2000 sheath had a ridged clip other then the leather. I don't often Wear a belt so a clip would be nice. I'd like to pickup a mora classic some day, think the knife shop close had some. Think they make fillet knives is like to Try, I like the regular old dexters tho.

I have a Mora filet knife that is nice. Synthetic handle and sheath are nice. Knife itself is a lot like the old standby birch handle Rapala Fish'n'filet. Which of course is a great filet knife that needs no introduction. But of all my filet knives, this one is the one to count on.
