Let's see carbines in pistol cartridges.

Marlin 1894 in 357 Mag and Ruger 77/357 I had threaded recently.
I built a 350 Legend AR as light as possible, kind of fits in with this crowd!

I sure would like to hear a bit how the two .357 carbines compare to one another in your shooting experiences, @Macchina .

The 77/357 is crazy expensive for what it is, but it’s one sweet gun! It’s a shooter for sure, does about 2” groups at 100 yards with my hand loads (158gr XTP over max H110). The 1894 in 357 is a late Remlin and extremely well made, it may be better than my JM Marlin 1894! I put a micarta buttpad on it and it kicks harder than I’d like but it carries beautifully and cycles perfectly. Shoots about 4” groups at 100 yards.

The Remlin and Ruger/Marlin 1894s aren't exactly cheap either. But the money did come out of my wallet pretty dang easy when I got my CSBL. 😉

I went full retard and put a RDS on a Ruglin 1894 .357 Mag.

The FarrowTech mount sits low enough to co-witness XS sights. However, the base of the XS rear had to have 1/32" taken off the end, and mounted backwards, to fit in the available room. I used a Skinner front sight on an XS front base.

Lower 1/3 co-witness for you tactical types. Circle/dot reticle does not photograph well.

Resulting rifle is very lightweight, and I prefer blued steel and walnut on lever actions.

My .44 Magnum Rossi R92. I am not recoil adverse but after putting a box of Winchester White Box through it and the resulting huge purple bruises I began figuring on how to put a pad on it. A gent from MOF gave me a stock and pad and forward stock and some other stuff!!! I am going to lengthen the LOP, install the pad and paint the new stocks black.

I also installed the Steve Guns safety delete, hammer spring (added a 1/8 inch spacer also) and ejector spring. Did a little action work gently. Runs super smooth and loves my 240 XTP with 10.2 grains of Unique loads, shoots the WWB good also. The build quality of the rifle is quite good, very good.

Lots of lever actions, automatics, and even single shots.
I wonder why pump carbines did not catch on, considering the huge installed base of pump shotguns.
But then I have read that nobody has made a Lightning pump work well, not even Colt.

I have two friends who are sniffing around AR9s but I don't use one and don't know how to advise them.
The options seem to be assembling one from commodity parts or buying one... and replacing half of it with commodity parts.

IMI made the Timber Wolf pump in .357 and .44 magnum, but they didn’t sell well back then, 1989 or so.

They might do better now with the popularity of PCC’s. No idea what they currently bring.
