Hey ya'll. I'm looking for a good holster rig for my Ruger Blackhawk. I'll be taking it deer hunting this coming season in hopes of bagging my first with a handgun. I figure something cross-draw will probably be more comfortable in a deer stand. So, let's see your handgun hunting rig. Show me some leather.

Ark. Paul, I do not have a picture of it but the pancake crossdraw made by www.simplyrugged.com for a Blackhawk is outstanding. You can carry it crossdraw or strong side. Don't forget to buy a sturdy, matching belt for same.

Paul, are you looking for leather and pretty, or functional? You can get some nylon styled holsters that are very functional for hunting at a good price. I prefer leather myself though. Glad to see you appreciating that single action, they are the best, arent they?

Oh yeah. I got one of the cheap Uncle Mike's nylon holsters, but there's just something about a single action in leather. I am looking for functional over pretty. It'll be a rig for carrying in the woods. I like the Galco stuff but wow. They like it too. I'm sure it's worth it though. You do get what you pay for.

For my woods bumming and hunting, I use Galco SAO's with my Ruger SBH and Single Sixes. Good quality, they carry well,..and they give you the option of carrying either cross draw or strong side, matched up to a good quality 2 inch leather belt,...hard to beat.

Check out packinheatleather.com or Cowboyneeds.com

Have done a lot of business with them both over the years.

Another vote here for Simply Rugged. I have one for my P90 which isn't the same style so I wont post a picture up but he does specialize in holsters for those big Rugers.
