Let's see that collection

I've just removed several posts discussing posting things on the internet, boating accidents, and hackers.

Once agian, if you wish to share pictures, feel free. If you don't, there's no need to chastise those who do.

I'm working under the assumption that everyone knows that what you post on the internet isn't really anonymous and understands that information they share could eventually be tracked back to them given enough time and effort. Share whatever you are comfortable with sharing.

There wouldn't be much to discuss here if no one admitted to owning guns or shooting.
I Second That.........................

Jorg, I don't own guns, I do not have a Springfield XDm compact in .40, a Ruger SP101, or a Ruger LCP. I most certainly do not have anything so dangerous as a Mossberg 930 SPX or a Benelli SuperNova. I definitely did not put night sights on my XDm (because how would I? I don't have one), or sight paint on the Rugers (once again, how could I?). I also have never added a side saddle or a flashlight to a shotgun.

Think you could find some pictures of all these guns you don't have? ;)

I've gotten my collection to the point where I don't even try to take photos of it all at once. A C&R can be dangerous for your wallet and space in your safe. I don't have a nice gun room where I can hang them all on the walls, and there are too many to fit on a mattress. You know you are a gun nut when if the police raid your house, they have to do the gun layout for the press in the front yard :)

Anyway here are some older pictures I have

Or if I have to bug out :)

Turtle, this is obviously photoshopped, because guns are icky and gross and I'd never have them.

Sorry, got too carried away there :p

essayons21...In the first picture of your "Woodies", what is the rifle 3rd from the left (just to the right of the Garand)?

Granted, if some law enforcement agency subpoenaed your ISP for your address, they can find out who you are.

And, there was an incident here where somebody found where texasrifleman (or something like that) had posted an address (selling an item maybe?) and thus won a bet.

Other than that, your average joe can't do it.

If you guys and gals are that scared of someone tracking your ISP, use a software that hides it. They work very well.

On another note, I will post pics of the updated collection after I pick up my Beretta 92 today.

Just got a new addition to the collection:

It's a Winchester Model 70 Classic Sporter w/ Boss system in .300 Win Mag. It was one of those deals where the price was too good to pass up, so naturally I snagged it before someone else could. It needs a new extractor, which I just ordered. the old one is chipped. And I need to take it to a gunsmith. The Safety sticks in the "fire" position and it takes a lot of force to change it back to the intermediate/safe positions. Two easy fixes... I'm hoping.

Never heard of a "one stamp"

I paid the $200 on each like everyone else :)
I called the BATFE this morning just to inquire about it ... there is no such stamp and the guy that wrote the artical at Gun Digest just didn't know what he was talking about ...

MAS-49/56. French battle rifle. Century conversion to .308 which are notoriously unreliable, but I lucked out and got a good one.

This is not entirely true, either someone lied to you, did not know, or simply wanted you to pay the tax stamp for each thing. You can set up a trust to order any NFA item on and once you do so you can order any other NFA item without having to do the $200 stamp everytime. Trust me on this. It is a lot more involved than doing the one time stamp at $200 but as I said if you purchase the items under a trust then you do not have to have the Chief of Police sign off every time, you don't have to pay the $200 everytime, and anyone that is on the trust can be in possession of that same suppressor or other NFA item. Its a much better deal to set up a trust and do it that way...

keep in mind that the initial trust set up and fees might be a little more tricky and expensive but if you plan on purchasing multiple NFA items now or in the future this is the way to go because ultimately it will be cheaper and you do not have to go through the same hoops everytime you order and NFA item.

The trust just eliminates the CLEO signoff and lets multiple people be in possession of the NFA item. There's still a $200 tax on any transfer or manufacture.

Wait, are you saying that setting up an NFA trust lets you transfer multiple items with one stamp?

Can you back this up?

All 8 of my NFA items are in a trust, and in Kansas trusts are not all that tricky or expensive, it just has to be notarized. I set up my own with Quicken software ... and I still have to pay the $200 every time, if there is some way around it, explain please as there is no place on a form 1 or form 4 to claim exempt from the fee unless you are a government entity ...

SilentStalker, there is NO "one time $500 silencer stamp." $200 each to make and register, or to transfer. Separate form 1 or form 4 for each device.

Period.

It doesn't matter whether you've set up a trust to get around the CLEO signature or not. It is in the very way the system works. Each individual item is registered on its own form when built by (actually, before hand) or transferred to a non-licensed owner.

Here's a discussion of the same MISTAKEN article over at silencertests: http://www.silencertests.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=79672

(Note, the processes by which an SOT 02, FFL manufacturer registers his producs are different, and there is a $500 reduced license fee involved there. May be where the author found his confusion.)

I only have a presentable group image of the pistols right now.

SilentStalker, folks are still waiting for you to back up your claim.
No, that's not necessary, and there's no reason to beat him up over it. These things are confusing, and have tripped up even nationally-published gun writers. Let's let it go.
