I have an 1858 Rem brasser, an 1851 brasser and an 1860 brasser

Last few times i got out i shot the Rem and the 1860, been keeping the others clean.

Im beating the snot outta these brass frames and i dont seem to notice any ill effects. We shot 23g of T7 3F in the 1860 monday and i dont seem to notice anything different after cleaning it up.

Anyway here are mine :D

I love the feel of the wood on the 51, those new pietta grips are nice not a smooth glossy finish it just feels like a tungoil finish.

Bower, you sure have a good camera!

They are both antiques, Canon S2 5 megapixel and A700 6 megapixel. Ive been wanting a new camera but these still both work and still take decent images so i havnt upgraded em yet.

Ive seen the S2 in pawnshops for $40. that one does all the closeups. The A700 i havnt seen to many around it does all the further out shots with a slave flash. Im sure its only a $20-30 camera now

Spiller & Burr is only in 36.

I want one but i want to stick to .44

I dont think ive seen an engraved brass frame. What do the little X's mean?

Before the letter date codes in a box, the Italians used roman numerals for date codes.

XXX means 1944 plus 30 for 1974.

They also used Roman and Arabic numerals together like "XX7"

Cruise around places like gun broker and you will see engraved brassers.

Howdy

This is the only one I have. Bought it when I was a teenager at the old Navy Arms showroom in Ridgefield NJ in 1968. Nobody was telling us back then to be careful of heavy loads. Too many 30 grain loads sprung the frame, the barrel now points up when the wedge is snugged in, it is now a wall hanger. After that, no more brass frames for me.

^Ha. I've never taken it to the gun range....but at the driving range, everyone loves it!

I let a 12 year old boy shoot it last time; explained the rock lock, let him prime it, he had a flash in the pan, re-primed, Sssss BOOM, everyone cheered...and that's how to create another black powder enthusiast (who's mom is currently annoyed at me cause all he wants for his birthday is a flintlock!).
