"Ive talked to Kaido before and tried to order a mould set but he has...issues."

Indeed. It's why I went to Accurate Molds as months went by without any inclination as to when one might even consider thinking of getting one. But being small time and dealing with a company with their own needs its not surprising. This was a couple of years ago and things may have changed for him.

Regardless I like what I created a bit more as the lengths are shorter and the meplats larger. But we all have our own idea what's ideal.

The Kaido 200 grain conicals can be loaded directly into 1858s and 1860s without modification.

All of the Kaido .44 caliber conicals are PROVEN killers on big game, not just small meat hogs. They really shine when hunting close in heavy cover or when wanting to reach out past 25 yards. Inside of 25 yards, the venerable pure lead round ball is just as deadly as ever.

The .44 caliber Kaido, while being tested by Mike B. (Duelist1954) penetrated more milk jugs and kept on going than a .30-06. See his videos on youtube.

The .36 caliber Kaido conicals drop from my mold at about 140 grains. Someone may have inferred that they were 160, the advertised weight is 144.

They sure do sound cool going supersonic when pushed with 4fg powder through our Remington Belt Model sixgun!

Anyone wishing to verify the veracity of this information, visit the yahoo percussionrevolvers and internationalblackpowderhandgunhunters groups or contact Rudy Betancourt directly. I believe he is a member of THR but an infrequent visitor, probably because he and his buddies spend as much time hunting as we spend talking about it!

Kaido has 3 .44 caliber conicals. The largest was made for ROA and Walkers. The middle size is for all .44s but requires enlarging the loading ports on many guns if one wants to load directly on the gun. Because of that, Kaido shortened the middle one so folks can load directly on the gun and is still a proven killer on big game.

I had thought the .36 was 160, at 140 that's even better for what I want. I'm as excited about that as I am the .44 mould. Right now Kaido has everything but the big Walker/ROA size mold..

A 140 grain semi-wadcutter shape in my Navy over 25 grains of black ( or T7 ) is to me, very intriguing. A .38 is one of my favorite kit guns for woods loafing where one 'doesn't need a gun'. I much prefer it to a .22 for that sort of thing.

When Elmer Keith was a boy, he used a '51 Navy with round ball to take very many grouse, sage hens and rabbits.

Our Remington Belt Model sixgun can take 20 grains of bp under a Kaido conical. Sometimes we'll shoot it with 15 grains of Swiss 4fg but the results are the same with 20 grains of Olde Eynsford 3fg, supersonic! Love the crack and sound of that gun.

When I forget to swap out the 24 grain spout for the 20 and load a conical that won't seat all the way, even with the Tower of Power, out comes the knife to shave the top of the bullet away so the cylinder will rotate. :banghead:

good to know! I had thought that perhaps compressing pyrodex or t7 would be needed to achieve speed.
