Letting Strangers Shoot My Shotgun

I'm happy to let anyone shoot anything I have, as long as they are safe and considerate. If they only want to shoot a few rounds, I even let them shoot my ammo.

I always offer to let people shoot my guns - in fact I always drag a .22LR to the range to lend out - there always seems to be a guy who brings his only gun (.40/.45/9mm) for his petite gf to shoot. I offer to lend a .22LR to her so she can start off slowly. about 40% of them take me up on the offer. A few get pissed off, but 90% are at least appreciative.

I have shot more different types of guns than I can count because of this - every caliber I can think of (except .50 BMG :( ) It's fun - even ended up buying a gun this way after shooting it once - he said he was using up the last of the ammo before trading it in for far less than it was worth, so I offered him about $100 more which was $100 less than I could find it elsewhere.

we bothgot $100 out of the deal. and the gun dealer was out $200. :D

Right now all I own is a Daisy Powerline 901. Now I'm not overly posessive about anything. I'll let anyone shoot it who asks, BUT I'd sooner be caught making out with Bill Clinton than I'd be caught letting it out of my sight when in anothers hands.

I was at my range in San Diego with my dad and the gentleman in the next lane over commented on how well I was shooting and then offered to let me shoot his S&W 29, and it was awesome! He had a few really nice wheel guns there, but I was out of ammo for what we were shooting and leaving when we got to talking but I would have gladly returned the favor. It does make you feel pretty good enjoying a common interest with someone you don't know.

I'm generally willing to let someone who seems interested put a couple rounds through one of my guns, provided they are polite and I don't get bad vises from them. Haven't had a problem yet. Generally if someone is curious about one of my guns, and I have ammo to spare, I will offer to let them shoot it.
My Hakim in particular seems to attract a lot of attention at the bench :D

I always take extra ammo of 22lr since that is what I shoot mainly. Allowing strangers to my modified 10/22 with a tach sol barrel and hogue stock is always intriging to them. Especially as to how light it is. Strangers are friends you have not met yet, especially at the range.
