I went and looked thru my first pick for my soon-to-be-bought rem 700, a Leupold VX-II, 3-9X40. I absolutely loved it...I've been looking thru crappy scopes on family rifles for so long that I never realized quality until I saw it.
The Leupold is the scope I am going to buy, however, I'd go somewhere that will let you look thru both of them and see what you like. I don't know much more beyond that, but I'd say that if the folks on here like 'em then I wouldn't feel to awful bad about anything they approved.
Charles S, I like yer sig. :D

I choose Nikon

I've been dealing with Nikon for many years as a photographer and they have always been very good to me. Not saying Nikon is better than Leupold, I think when it comes to rifles scopes Leupold is probably top dog. However IMO the Buckmaster is a lot of scope for the money and will certainly be fine for hunting.

I have a Nikon Buckmaster 6-18x40 on my Rem 700 LTR and I really like it. Honestly I'd rather have a Leupold Mk.4 LRT on it, but I can't spend that kind of money on a scope:(

Here's my Rem 700 LTR with Buckmaster.....

Used to be you had to go to a Vari-X III to get the optical quality of the Nikon. I have no idea about the new Leupolds. I have not shopped for a scope in a while.

10 years ago the Buckmaster was the best scope for the money as far as optical quality.

Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40 - $302 shipped

If you're looking for a good deal on a Nikon Buckmasters 6-18x40, I'm not sure you'll beat this, $50 less than OpticsPlanet.

I'm also looking for a 6-18x40 scope for target shooting at 300 yards with my Savage .223. I wonder if this will do the trick?
