Sometime last fall I had aquired a fascination with Mannlicher stocked Ruger's. I purchased a few off of Gunbroker with me being happier with each one that arrived at my FFL buddy. This was all great but the ones I really liked were the special run Stainless/walnut M77's from Lipsey's. They typically released a new one around New Years from what I understood.

So having purchased a 7x57 at a somewhat inflated price due to my timing I was really interested in getting this year's .308 model. On December 21 The gun was listed in Lipsey's online catalog. I called my LGS about 10 the next morning to ask them to order one, I had previously inquired about the rifle with them also. They said they were ordering 3 of them, one for another customer, mine, and one for stock. I told them I would be in the next morning after I got off work (plowing snow) to put a deposit on the rifle.

So the next morning about 9:30 I get to the shop to pay my deposit, I tell one of the guys I am here to put a deposit down for the rifle I ordered. Imagine my surprise when they put my rifle on the counter and ask if I would like to take it home today! Talk about a Christmas present. I happily paid for the rifle and went home and put it under the tree.

I would have imagined that I would receive my rifle a month or three after I placed the order. From my research Ruger had nothing like a set schedule for producing the earlier runs of 250 each. I give my thanks to the people at Lipsey's who are in charge of coordinating with Ruger for their timing. Add that to the unreal shipping time of less than 24 hours to Alaska from Louisiana. By far my best experience ordering pretty much anything, and living in AK I order tons of stuff for home and my work. The guys at the gun shop were fairly amazed also.:what:

Doesn't Santa live near you??

Most excellent service on a fine looking rifle. Enjoy that one, it was meant to be!
