Poison Summer--fiction (lights out inspired me)

After reading Lights Out by Halfast (or what he's done so far), I've been inspired to wrap up a long term writing project of mine.

I'd also like to circulate this amongst the group here--its about a merc and there's more than a little gun related content.

Would it be appropriate to post those pdfs (about 130k in size)?

TIA

Hey MudPuppy,

Enjoyed reading your 51 pages every bit as much as I have enjoyed reading Lights Out. Keep up the good work!

And when do I get to read more? :)

Interesting, although your choice of weapons is a bit unusual. And unless the vast majority of Sig .45s do not have safeties (I think the only such critter in existence is a gunsmith modified one). I'm looking forward to more.

So you do realize what you've done here mudpuppy... You've just ruined your life. You'll never have a chance to get away from your writing and those of us here interested will dog you for the rest of your days to finish this work... :D Of course, the dogging ends there. But we'll start back up again with dogging you about a sequal!

"And unless the vast majority of Sig .45s do not have safeties (I think the only such critter in existence is a gunsmith modified one)"

I'm missing the point in your statement (but I'm not always the sharpest tool in the shed)--can you clarify please?

Thanks!

MudPuppy, you're missing the point because I screwed up and left it out. One should never post while working; one should just post and forget about work. As CleverName stated, only one Sig .45 that I am aware of has a manual safety, and it was a rather unwieldy pushbutton affair built in by a gunsmith.

I did have a question about the second batch of chapters. You have a "sheriff's heavy patrol cruiser" in it. Was that supposed to be a heavy sheriff's car, or is that sheriff a fan of nautical terms? ;)

The story is great so far, and I'm very interested to see where you're going with it.

Sadly, I'm not as familar with the SIG series as I need to be if including it in the story--which, I'm sure, my wife will understand as a reason for purchasing one!

I've heard the term "cruiser" used in reference to hiway patrol vehicles in Texas and Oklahoma parts--especially the big crown vic and caprices, as opposed to the mustang and camaro interceptors. Any LEO's opinion on if that's incorrect usage?

That's a major reason why I'm posting here--most densely populated group of knowledgable folks I can think of, especially about the "important" stuff.

Cruiser is fine, as is patrol cruiser. But when you say "heavy" and "cruiser" in the same sentence, I instantly start thinking of a vessel capable of long range operations with an armament consisting of 8 inch guns. Either that, or the starship Enterprise (NCC-1701 no bloody A, B, C, or D). ;)

As for justifying the purchase, it's good to see your skills at rationalization are as good as you're writing skills.

Maybe you just made a good ol' typo and meant to write sheriff's highway patrol cruiser instead of heavy?

You've drawn me in. Liked it enough that when I got sleepy, I took my computer to the couch and fell asleep with it on my belly. Just finished what was left on awaking. Now I have two stories to wait for (I'm a Lights Out fan, too).
