lightweight 45 auto with 5"bbl and 8-10rds cap?

honestly i dont know what im looking for in an auto, i like revolvers but want to try something new, im thinking 1911 style, but wanted something a little more compact and lighter. i liked the Taurus pt145 mil pro a lot but not the 3.25 bbl, im hearing good stuff about a ruger.....i think the p385 model. i dont have my ccw but would like to be able to conceal carry once i do get my ccw, for now it will mostly be a truck/bike gun and get lots of practice at home. any other suggestions in the 300-400 dollar range? i may go higher since i have a marlin 925m ill be selling, maybe see if the gun shop would trade me some..

Any 1911 will fit your Parameters.

a 1911 is more compact than you think, not to mention the EMP from Springfield 9mm or .40..

i built a lt wt 5" 1911 in .38 super to solve all these problems. it is 10+1 using wilson mag which makes it slim, trim, lighter, yet hi-cap. if you have trouble with 10th round loading, write me and i will fix it for you.

Sounds like you should consider a 1911 with
the Commander length 4.25" Bbl. Len. - for CCW
less interference in sitting with OWB 3:30 carry
position. But limited platforms in your price range.

Normally, I recommend a M1911, but for $300-400, a Ruger will fulfill your needs and make a nice "beater" gun. Not as concealable, but all guns are a compromise. If you want "light" there are aluminum-framed guns nowadays, but I don't trust them as much if you really want a "beater".

CWL, which ruger are you referring to? i liked the feel of the taurus and at 22.2oz and 10 rd clip of 45 auto for 370 sounded good, but i was told the trigger was awful, and i did not want to rack the slide and pull the trigger to find out myself at the gunshop since i didnt know if that was an ok thing to do?

The Ruger P345 is what you are looking for.

However, a price range of $300-$400 is low for a new Ruger P345 in today's inflated market. Personally, I'm holding off my gun purchases for a few more months until hopefully the panic buying ends and prices and availability return to normal.

1911's are slim and a Lightweight Commander would also be light. However, 1911's do keep their value well, a good thing if you are selling, but not so good if you are buying. I would expect even a used Colt 1911 to go for over $500. Armscor does make a solid 1911 which you may find in your price range.

i was talking to 2 different gun shops that would take my 22 mag rifle as partial trade, 300 dollar setup new, maybe 150-200 off my deal i guess.

i just wanted a 5" bbl for better accuracy, 3-5" @ 25 would be plenty as id just be shooting target and cans. the taurus had a 3.25 and only weighing 22.2oz empty, i had no idea what the recoil would be like,or accuracy
