Lightweight Gun Oil Aerosol Suggestions

I like Eds red as a cleaner and lubricant, my last batch I made a 32oz bottle without acetone to use as a lubricant, I also like the 0w10 synthetic motor oil as a lubricant.

Growing up that meant WD40. Later my preference was Rem Oil in an aerosol can. Hard to find Remoil lately and I am looking for a substitutes.

I've been to Walmart twice in a year. Probably December and last week. I bought remoil both times. Absolutely no ammo/primer/ powder and only a few cheap Turkish guns. But plenty of remoil. I prefer it for quick wipedowns or for a gun im going to carry again soon. No wipe off required.

Liquid Wrench Workhorse Multi-Purpose Lube
Seems like a direct competitor to WD40.

Strong smell though. I think it's better than WD. Another is crc screwloose. Bd-777 is even stronger but has a purple dye. I wouldn't use it on guns. Great in the shop though.

With good ventilation

Wd-40 was pushed for a gun oil for years. I never used it though. I do use the WD40 specialist gel for rust prevention. We get all kinds of products at my company from vendors begging for buisness. We used to use Kroil some but everyone switched to others. Some millwrights still prefer it.

Very nice testing and write up.
But I don't leave my guns outside in the rain or the salt surf
at the beach!!!

I almost forgot, Amsoil also has a gun lube product https://www.amsoil.com/p/100-synthetic-firearm-lubricant-and-protectant-flp/

I've never used it, so I don't know if it is any different than the MP general purpose spray lube, and perhaps just in different packaging.
I have used both the AmsOil gun cleaner/lube and the lube/protectant. They work very well. I used to sell both products in my motorcycle shop. Everyone that has used it, loves it. Try your local motorcycle shop that carries AmsOil products, bet they have it.
( I closed the shop, reason I say used to sell, not because I no longer use it.)

Based on recommendations from my (trusted) local gunsmiths based on what they use, I've become a fan of the Safari Charlie aerosol when used as a general spray cleaner and light oil. It's proven harmless to plastics on my guns and does a decent job of removing spooge and leaving a light film - I use it to flush and fog the innards of a lot of guns. I probably wouldn't use it as a lubricant for heavy wear areas, but otherwise I'm quite happy with it.

This. Maybe something to do with the bankruptcy. Hope it comes on-line again soon.

Have you actually used WD40? Yes, it does provide lubrication and can be used as a lubricant. I have determined this via observation, use by my own self, and and after reading the label. The residue left behind after it dries out over a time I find objectionable such that I prefer lemon oil. At least no nasty residue left behind by lemon oil.

OTOH, do you have any lightweight oil you have found handy for use on guns?
Asking an over 60 man if he as ever used Water displacement formula 40. Really. Never was and isn't now a lubricant. Good post though
