Likelyhood of cheaper scope being broken out of the box

So I got myself a cheap vortex crossfire 2-7 for a little badger single shot, seemed like an appropriate choice for a cheap rifle.

But I cant get this rifle to group, how often are cheap scopes fluffed right out of the box?

Try another scope on it. The problem might be with the rifle.

I had a broken pistol scope out of the box, it grouped way out of bullseye and wouldn't sight in whatever, but it grouped.

Hmm okay im getting very lousy groups, admittedly it is a chiappa little badger and i wasnt expecting much even in 22 mag, but its spraying them, its hard to shoot with the wire stock and no cheek weld.

Check the base. Maybe try the scope on a rifle you know shoots good too. If its the scope, vortex will replace.
