I've had quite a few "standard" (screw on longer threaded barrel and threaded standard barrel) comped guns from Tanfo, Colt, and Springfield in .45, 9mm and .38 super, and I recently got a "Kaw Valley linear comp" for my Sig P220 ST with Sig OEM 5" bbl.

This one surprised me by not cycling a batch (my last) of 230 gn .45 Fact ammo. With the comp, 100% failure to eject, but without the comp 100% reliability extract, eject and latch the slide on the empty, while my V-16 Springfield has no issues with this ammo at all.

My Sig ST (all stainless steel) is nearly 3 pounds so it's no hard kicker to start with so it really did not "need" the comp but it looks better than the thread protector, and long range I wanted to start working with some .45 super brass I acquired for my Springfield V16.

My plan for the short term is to roll some juiced up 205 grain powder coated ammo in the coming weeks, and rummage through my meager supply of .45 factory ammo to see if any will have enough ooomph to defeat whatever forces are keeping the Sig from cycling.

Anyone else have a "linear" comp with similar experiences? I've read a few reviews of 10mm users and none (not surprisingly) reported any similar issues.

A lot of 10mm people run hot loads , not surprising they have no problems. While I have zero experience with linear comps on pistols , all comps do the same thing , they vent gas . I make compensator’s . The pistol comps are much more challenging, so I prefer them . My goal is to get 9mm pistols to function on 9mm NATO spec ammo with the factory recoil spring and most of the time I can .

The more weight on a moving barrel, the more energy you suck outta it being able to do its job.

Put my 45 can on a 1911 without the booster and failures galore!
Put the booster on, voila no more failures.
