This is to see what are the best and worst deals out there. Try not to pick extremly obscure handguns please. This is not just for fun but for people to use as a guide. Please list only those guns that you have experience with not just word of mouth guns for the underpriced guns. Overpriced is more subjective anyway so it is your call.

Three handguns that I think are underpriced (meaning that prices will likly rise once the word gets out):
1. Bersa .380s and .22s.
2. Star Firestars all cals.
3. Cz-40 (you can take your pick of CZs that are under priced).
4. S&W 586/686
5. Walther P-1

Guns that are overpriced (or at the peak of their value right now):
1. Walther PPK
2. Browning Hi Power (I'm not saying they are overpriced, they are just not the best deal out there. You will pay for the quality you get.)
3. ALL 1911 style guns esp. COLTS
4. H&K USPs (they are actually coming down in price as demand slows and the "newness" factor decreases)
5. Glocks (come on, no way these things should cost more than a CZ)

Please no flames as this is just my own opinion. I just want you to give your opinion. Everybody has a right to an opinion so lets not turn this into a 1911 vs Glock debate or any other type of debate.

Under Priced

in addition to those listed ...
Makarovs
South African RAP 401's and 440s

Over Priced

also in addition to those listed ...
H&K P7s (they are nice ... but $1200?! come on  )
Sig/Hammerli Trailsides

I'll disagree with your "ALL 1911 style guns esp. COLTS" There are several well priced 1911s like Charles Dalys, Stars, Astras, Ballester Molinas and other non-us made 1911 style guns.

Overpriced.

The H&K SP-89. This one is $4,200.

Overpriced:
1. 1911's - they've been around forever, everyone makes the parts & there are alot of manufacturers of the guns, yet you can still see production 1911's over $650...why? Competition alone should drive the price below $500 at most!
2. SIG classic line of handguns. Come on, stamped parts cost that much?
3. (THIS one really pains me!) HK USP's. The advent of polymer into the handgun/firearm industry was suppose to bring down prices weren't they?
4. Glock - agreed, these things should cost much less then they do.
5. Kahr pistols...especially the poly framed ones

Underpriced:
WHAT? Actually think I should pay more for a handgun? Just because they havetheir pricin structure in line w/ reality? This is really going to be a short list.
Nope, can't think of 1 ;)

PS...please, don't take offense w/ my "over priced list" I even added my beloved HK's on the list just because...well they are a tad over priced & I was trying to be objective...

I'll give it a shot, keep in mind i think they're all fine handguns
Overpriced;H&K's,most sigs,any 1911 over $600.00,Para LDA's,kahr's,some beretta's
Underpriced;Bersa's,some CZ's,ruger semiauto's,most browning buckmarks and ruger 22's

Over priced:

Sigs
H&Ks
Domestic 1911s
Browning Hi-Powers
Current S&Ws

Under priced:

Makarovs
Walther P-1s (current imports)

I'll just add:

Overpriced:
-most 1911's

Underpriced (I'd rather say "best values"):
-EAA Witness series (CZ clones)
-Ruger P-series semi-autos
-Kel-Tec P-11

Overpriced:

Kahrs
Post '82 S&W Revolvers
H&Ks
Sigs
Any gun I'm trying to buy

Under Priced:

Pre '82 S&W Revolvers
Kel-Tec P32
Any gun I'm trying to sell

Good thread!

Lots of good stuff already listed but, I'll add these..

Overpriced:
The Sig P210 has to be on that list... $3000 for the 50th. Anniversary Model .. Ouch! :what:
Also,Korth pistols must be on anyones "Overpriced" list.. They start at around $5,000.. Yikes!:what:
HK handguns
Sig hanguns

Underpriced:
CZ's at around $300
Walther P-1's at around $200
Makarovs

Over priced:

Glock ($600 plus MSRP for plastic, err I mean "polymer" frame??). I don't think polymer costs that much, compared to steel.

Sig Classic P-Series ($800 plus MSRP on some models for ALLOY frame??). Considering that alloy is generally easier to work with than steel (from a manufacturing standpoint), why the high price?

S&W revolvers (too much MSRP, IMO, for a revolver that switched to some MIM parts)

Ruger P90 (good reliable workhorse, but no longer a good deal money wise, and definititely due for moderate upgrades such as better barrel lockup, and serations on the slide)

Sig P210 (fabulous pistol at a ridiculous price)

Underpriced:

CZ's (shoot great, all-steel construction, good exterior fit/finish)

NAA Minis (considering the fabulous workmanship and very good quality, I've always been surprised how cheap these little gems are)

MRI Baby Eagles (good no-frills guns for the money)

I'll take a stab at it......

Looking into my financial situation.......they're ALL overpriced to me! But seriously....

OVERPRICED
Smith and Wesson revolvers (Ouch, I paid $610 for a 340SC)
Glocks (mass-produced polymer and ordinary looking materials)
Sigs (good grief)
1911's (I just don't get it and probably never will)
Most H&K's (my son paid $620 for his polmyer .40 cal USP compact)
Walther PPK (must be that "celebrity" status)

UNDERPRICED

EAA Windicator revolvers (extremely well-made in Germany; I've owned 2 and they're a best-kept secret)
Kel-Tecs
Naa mini-revolvers (workmanship and materials first-rate)
CZ's (After shooting and handling a friend's .40, I've got the hots for a 75 and Kadet conversion kit!)

Well, overpriced is tough cause folks still pay the going, so I'll pass on that one.

But underpriced is another matter. There are some great underpriced guns out there today. My list for best value guns is
  • Makarovs
  • ARCUS M-94 & M-98 at under $250.00 new.
  • FEG PJK 9HP at about $200.00 NIB
  • STAR UltraStar at under $250.00 NIB
  • FM HiPower M-95 maybe the sleeper of the group
  • Used S&W Revolvers
  • Ruger Security-six, balances better than any of their new line.
  • S&W M-27, maybe the best 357 magnum ever made.
  • SpringField XD, even at their new higher price it's still a bargain
  • STAR Model B and Super, great shooter with the inverted rail design found on the SiG P-210
  • Walther P-1, not a P-38 but a close second
  • Bersa Thunder, what the PPk wished it was

overpriced:
glocks..all
Star Firestars
colt delta elites
S&W model 41's
freedom arms..all

Underpriced:
Springfield XD's
Rugers
Savage Strikers
Springfield 1911's
S&W model 66 combat magnum

Overpriced:
H&K P7M8, very unique and cool but still a tad too much
1911s Been around WAY too long to be as much as they are.
Browning Hi-Power, love it but its been around too long (and Browning could maybe actually advertise them :banghead: )
Colt Python, love it also, but too much peroid
Desert Eagle, paying simply for the WOW factor

Underpriced: (All great for the price)
CZ 75/85 line
Makarovs
Walther P1s
Kel-Tecs
FEG Hi-Power Clones

OVERPRICED, charge more than they're worth IMHO:

1. (with a bullet) Sigs--whether alloy or plastic the pricing doesn't make sense in any currency.

2. HK--there must be a high tax on plastik in der fatherland

3. Glocks--see number two, but without the cachet.

4. Any factory 1911 over $650-700.00--above this price point start thinking custom or semi-custom only.

5. Kahr--I have handled many and think they all cost $50-100.00 too much.

UNDERPRICED, could get away with charging more:

1. CZ--but only the 75 series.

2. Old S&W Revos--The auto craze has really depressed prices on many of these fine old wheelguns, though I note some inflation over time.

3. The HS2000/SA-XD if a Glock is worth over $500.00 then so is this line.

4. The SA Mil-Spec 1911--In many areas of the country this weapon is dirt cheap.

5. The EAA Windicator--Perhaps the stupid name gets in the way of this better than a Taurus revolver.

OVERPRICED:

a) H&K USP's
b) Kahr's
c) Glock's
d) SIG Classic P-series
e) Colt's (all model's)

UNDERPRICED:

a) Bersa Thunder .380
b) NAA "mini's" in .22LR and .22 magnum
c) CZ-75B
d) Walther P-1 (currently)
e) *some used but not abused Smith & Wesson revolver's

totally disagree.wather p1 and smith n wesson 686 underpriced?are you nuts.smith n wesson 686 around here are overpriced as are all their revolvers.and colt 1911 are overpriced say what you can get a colt yes a real 1911 colt 1991 mod for under 600 bucks .all these chuck dalys and rock rivers are going for 4-5600 and there junk.

Over Priced

1. Glock
2. H&K
3. Sig
4. BHP
5. 1911

The same as everyone else. But I own 2 out of 5. I owned 3 out of 5 at one point. And I love to shoot them. I cna't understand why they are as expensive as they are but I paid it. And I'll be paying it again. Like we say at work: Drive like a sport, pay like a sport

Under priced:

1. Ruger P series
2. Bersa Thunder 380

Those are the only ones I can think of. They are also the only 2 I own that I've been very impressed with for the amount of money spent. The Bersa is great pistol at a great price no matter what anyone thinks. The Ruger P series (P95 for me) Is a tank. I've been shooting it for years and haven't had a problem with it.

Odd....

two of the most common "overpriced"...

Glock and 1911's...

are the most popular and biggest sellers

IMO, Makarov's and CZ's are bricks...YMMV

when's the last time you saw a bullseye match won with a Makarov????

there's gotta be some appeal to them, but I'm missing it. Triggers one the ones I tried were AWFUL. Guess I'm spoiled by the 2 3/4# smooth-as-silk trigger on my 1911.

so...overpriced

Makarov's...anything over $50 is too much for them

Underpriced...1911's. If I were going into combat, I'd rather take my WW II vintage Colt over anything else. Perhaps it's because it's in a real caliber.

I'm glad tastes vary so much...makes life interesting

Underpriced:
CZs and EAAs
KelTecs in General
Bulgarian Makarovs
Used Dan Wesson Revolvers

Overpriced:
Walthers in general
Seecamps
Small SIGs

I don't really think that SIGs in general are over or underpriced as they serve their purpose very well. Also, I don't think 1911s from quality companies are overpriced as they are the best pistols you can buy and you can't put a price on that. ;)
