Is it just me or do others have problems with powders like Bullseye and Unigue throwing consistant charges, or does it like ball powders better?:banghead:

For me it's been +/- .1gr with ball powders like 231 or H335 and +/- .2-3 for Varget, the only stick powder I've tried with it.

I use the small metering insert made for handgun charges between .5gr and 17gr (I think those numbers are correct) not the handgun insert that came with the measure. I have had no problems with Unique or the other powders I use.
Haven't used Bullseye.

I also use the small insert for pistol charges. I also use a baffle, in fact, I have two in mine placed 90 degrees to each other and about an inch apart.

But, i have also modified a Redding 10-x powder measure for use on my L-N-L progressive.

No problems with several 8#'ers of BE thru 2 different L'n'Ls ... are the powder drop parts completely degreased and at least periodically cleaned?

I mainly use bulleseye, w231, and titegroup for most of my pistol rounds.
And for 223 I use H335, And it drops the right amount every time.

Mine are accurate to 0.1gr, which is most scales' tolerance, with every powder I've tried, including Varget.

I use the pistol insert for loads up to about 15-18gr depending on the powder density, then it's rifle insert time. Always the factory baffle is in place.

I have 2 LNL powder measures and load only Bullseye or Unique in my handgun calibers. Both drop accurate charges with a max variance of +/- .1 of a grain. Be sure to use the pistol rotor and metering insert along with the baffle.

0.05+- range with WSF without the baffel (don't let the powder level below half way on the measure)..... At least 0.1+- with Unique.

Read on another post that someone had good luck with using the rifle-insert to charge pistol cartridges with flake powders.

Regardless, 0.1+- is not going to make a hill of a difference when it comes to accuracy. Did an experiment ranging over 2 grains of powder and the change in trajectory was small (2inches) in my XD40 at ~40 feet.

I was using a ball powder & it creeped up 1.5gn or more. Hornady sent me a baffel but it ticked me off enough I still haven't got around to trying it again. I just use my Lee Auto Disk now
I'll get around to giving it another chance someday.

For those of you using the baffle, do you place it at the bottom of the empty tube? I have seen some users on YouTube with 2-3" of powder at the bottom, then the baffle inserted with more powder on top.

I never could get Unique to meter in my LNL dispenser. The best I could do was ±0.2 grains which is about 10% swing in charge. I switched over to ball powders (WST, WSF, 231, 296....) and never looked back.

I've always been hesitant about using the baffle with large flake powders. Now, I never use the baffle at all even with ball powders and I'm happy with the consistency. Do others not use the baffle?

I have three different drum type measures, a Redding an older Hornady and the new Hornady that came with the LNL AP. I tried the baffles in all and never got the consistency I do without them.
I don't use them at all and get +/- .1gr even with Unique.
I don't use stick type powders much so they may be different.
