When you put your gun away, do you leave it loaded or unloaded.

I know a gun is always loaded, but do you take the ammo out or leave it in.

I empty my guns for storage. My HD gun is loaded.

Depends on what weapon. Rifles in the safe? I generally unload them and pull the bolts so they fit in better. The handguns in the safe usually have an empty tube and full mag.

Defensive weapons like the shotgun or AR 15 are put away where I can get them and are ready to go.

I generally unload guns with magazines in order to rest the springs but I never have a reason to unload a revolver except cleaning or changing types of ammo.

I keep my HD weapon loaded all the time. My other firearms are stored unloaded but the mags are kept loaded and stored as well.

That.

'Away' for my 9mm or .38 means 'beneath the head of the bed' and are thus always loaded.

Anything else gets put in the safe, empty, with a loaded magazine on the shelf beside it. Mostly to make range trips quicker.

My carry gun is loaded 100% of the time, unless I am cleaning it. All other guns, I store unloaded. All magazines for my guns are loaded all the time. I like going to the range without having to load them to start shooting.

When I'm not actively using or cleaning a gun, it's stored loaded. My AR15 has a full mag and the bolt locked back, on safe (hanging on the wall in the gun rack); my 1911 has one in the tube on my hip or my nightstand, condition 1. My BHP the same though it is in a pistol case usually. The only firearm I don't keep loaded is my .22 rifle (though I should probably keep that one loaded too... you never know when rabid squirrels might attack!)

My carry gun is always loaded and a spare mag is always loaded as well.

My shotgun usually has a full tube, but my rifles are stored empty. The magazines for the rifles are stored empty as well.

All guns in the safe are unloaded with no mag in the mag well. I do this so there is a visual check for me so I know nothing in the safe is loaded.

HD guns are not kept in the safe.

My Sig p220 is my carry gun, that always has a loaded mag., but none in the pipe. every other firearm is unloaded and the mags are stored empty.

The long guns are unloaded, the handguns are loaded. Chambering and rechambering the same round can be hazardous.

There's no such thing as 'resting' a magazine spring. Keeping it compressed is better for it than repeated cycles of compression and relaxation.

My carry gun is always loaded in a mini safe in my office
My HD gun is always loaded in a mini safe in the master bedroom

All my other guns are unloaded with trigger locks

Everything in the safe is unloaded. So are their mags if they have one. HD's are always ready. Mine, her's and the scattergun in the corner.

same here. If it is going into the "big safe" it gets unloaded. If it is going to be my security, it stays loaded, whether it is in the quick access safe or not.

All my guns that go in the safe, go in unloaded, mags included.

I generally keep a shottie and a handgun out. They are loaded. I'm single with no kids in the house.

I never put one up with one in the chamber, but I don't unload a gun completely before storing it.

1911 in the bedroom is hot and locked Condition 1, HD shotgun has a full tube and empty chamber, mainly because I have to conciously rack the pump and prevent a N/D. Added bonus it's a scary noise to hear if you aren't the one making it. Anything is the safe is unloaded and empty.

My hunting/plinking rifles are stored empty in the gun safe. My 9mm resides loaded in the nightstand (no children in house). My AR and AK typically stay loaded, but chamber empty. They too are typically in the safe, but one or both occasionally reside cased under the bed for quick access if need be. I also keep my mags loaded and ready to go, knowing that the unexpected happens from time to time, and theres very little one can do to predict it.

Duty and off duty guns stay loaded and are readily accessible, my wife's carry gun stays loaded and is also easy to get to.
Patrol rifle and "working in the back field rifle" have empty chambers but loaded mags in them, plus spare mags on/with them.
Everything else is empty and locked away.

The "immediate" defense weapon stays loaded with full chamber.

"Emergency Weapons" stay loaded with an empty chamber, or at least there are full magazines for it sitting around even if they're not inserted.

All others are totally empty.

That's just me.
