I'm about to buy an STI Spartan and am looking for some ideas for some grips to put on it. I'm not a big fan of parked guns, but those grips make it downright ugly (to me at least).

So I want to have grips ready and waiting by the time the gun shows up, and I'm having a hard time deciding what to throw on my new baby (nobody wants an ugly baby, right?? :neener:).

I really like the alumagrips, but I think those look better on a stainless/polished/chromed finish. I can't see them looking right on the parked finish. Don't you agree??

I've also been looking at the operators from vzgrips (http://vzgrips.com/grips.html) in either black or desert sand. How do you guys think these would look? Black or desert sand?

I've checked out vzgrips, linville knife and tool, gungrips.net, esmeraldas grips, to name a few...

What are some other good sites to go to look for grips for my new 1911?

To make things worse I have a terrible time visualizing things. So if you have them handy, I'd love to see your parked 1911s to give me some ideas...

These are Hogue's on my Spartan they were quickly replaced by VZ Diamond Backs, I just don't have a shot with those. Spartan.png

WARNING: I am not a professional photographer, nor do I play one on TV.That said, here's a not-so-good cell-phone camera pic of my Springfield Loaded with Hogue rubber wraparounds with the finger grooves.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again. It may not be the most beautiful pistol, but that kind of austerity has a beauty all its own.

those are some neat grips jd....

I wish they had better pictures of them so I could tell the colors better. I don't even see the ones you have up there

decisions decisions

I still kinda like my originals, but those ones from davidsknives are awesome. I think those might have just taken the lead

I really need to wait until I actually have the gun in my hand and can see first hand what the park job looks like. Getting ahead of myself. But at least I'll know where to look when it gets here......

thanks for all the help guys
