I worked up some loads for my new 9mm today. I used HS-6 and Hornady HP/XTP bullets in both 115gr and 124 gr and chronographed the results.
Here is the data:
Powder wt: 6.4grn
Bullet: 115 grn
COAL: 1.125
Ave Velocity: 1186
Powder wt: 6.4grn
Bullet: 124 grn
COAL: 1.125
Ave Velocity: 1186
Powder wt: 6.6grn
Bullet: 115 grn
COAL: 1.125
Ave Velocity: 1166
Powder wt: 6.6grn
Bullet: 115 grn
COAL: 1.125
Ave Velocity: 1200
I noticed that the velocity didn't drop when going up in weight from 115 to 124 grns and in fact the velocity of the 124gr actually increased over that of the 115gr when upping the charge to 6.6grns. Do these results seem on par with what others have been getting? I was shooting these in a SA XD9 with 5" barrel. Also I did notice some soot on the empty casings when using 6.4 grs with the 115 grn bullets.
