I have recently noticed that with my 44 Colt and 45 colt reloads using trail boss powder, my cartridge cases would begin to turn green after firing them. Has anyone else had this problem with trail boss powder? I did not clean my cases the same day but maybe one week after firing them. Thanks for any info you can give me.

I load trailboss for my .45 colt uberti and new vaquero, mostly star line brass but mixed win and Hornady factory brass and haven’t noticed that happen, I have a little more than a hundred cases that I shot last year and haven’t cleaned and they all look like they did the day I popped em off. My reloading area is inside the house and climate controlled so might not apply to your situation.

i use a good amount of tb never get a green color burns clean to. i would like to see some pics of the brass. maybe the oil u use for lube is reacting with the brass. the old military lube made a win 66 clone green in side. do they turn green right after u shoot or take some time.

Used it for pistol and reduced rifle and never noticed anything remotely green.

I load trail boss in my 45Colt new vaquero 200-250 grain lead. And have never seen anything like that. Stuff stinks lol but no color issues.

Are these being kept in a leather belt? It's possible the heat started the corrosion process. The Oil in leather will cause the corrosion on brass cases, the reason Nickle is used.

It's been a while since I've used Trail Boss but I don't remember even seeing any green on the cases and I sometimes don't clean them for over a month. This is both handgun and rifle cases.

Hmmm. I thought blue68f100 had it.
I left some 45 Colt ammo in a leather belt for 2 or3 days & was surprised by the green color.

You got me stumped. I hope someone figures this out.

Were those brass shot with Black Powder previously? That is the only time I have found green deposits after leaving the fired brass laying around for a few weeks before cleaning it. Possibly before you got the brass some one used BP and the residue is still on the inside of the brass. TB is a clean propellant and I have left fired brass around for six months without it looking different than the day I shot it.
