Am I the only one that sees the poll as being flawed somehow? I know a couple of you voted for "nothing can be done", which is really the point. I don't think that harsher penalties is going to matter to someone who plans on killing themself afterwards, but I can see how people would vote for that option in lieu of the other three.
I feel strongly that nothing can be done in instances such as that. People can carry all day long, but until the number of people who do actually carry on a daily basis, and even in areas where they're not supposed to, I don't see that option as being a deterrent. It could possible end the situation a bit earlier, but it isn't going to prevent one from ocurring. And these guys have been thinking this through enough that if a day were to come that a majority of people did carry, the bg's would mass kill a different way...bombs, poison, who knows.
I did vote to allow people to conceal carry, though, because I think that it would send a message to others that there are more of us out there than they think and it is becoming more mainstream. Ay little way, such as this, to get it out that there are responsible people who carry, and that want others to carry, is a good thing. It's the most passive way to get out the message.
