Um, I believe I'll pass on your invitation. Thanks anyway. You do realise just how far it is from SE NM to Houston?

Walmart is famous for its low prices but infamous for the lack of supply dependability. Here in Houston Academy is a much more dependable ammo supplier with large inventory of all the popular and not so popular varieties. And the prices are as good or better than Walmart. I don’t bother going to WM anymore. I do buy online when that is the better approach, but more often now local supply works as well. Certainly in .22LR that is usually the case. The lone exception recently was the online deal at Academy that many of us took advantage of.I was in Walmart yesterday and went to the sporting goods section looking for a couple of small plastic boxes. I looked in the ammo section as I had to walk right past it to get to where the boxes are kept. The shelves were loaded with centerfire ammo and even plenty of shotgun shells. There were only a few boxes of 333 count Winchester 22 LR and six 100 count boxes of Remington golden bullets on that shelf with no price posted on either. I'm still stuck with ordering 22 LR off the net.
That new Lubbock cabelas has pretty good prices. Their reloading stuff is pretty reasonable.Perhaps Houston having over 2 million population might be a reason that ammo flows to it. I live in a country that is over three time larger than Rhode Island and contains around 65,000 souls total. Goods go to the larger markets.
I can handle the 22LR scarcity better than I could deal with your population. I get stressed when dealing with the drivers in Lubbock. Most seem to think they are the only one on the road. It's been an area joke for years that a vehicle can't be sold in Lubbock with operating turn signals.
why wont other guns handle that ammo?I'd say mid to late 2017 around here. I've finally gotten to the point where I don't buy 22lr whenever I see it. Unfortunately, the "buy it when I see it" had me end up with 150 rounds of Aguila Interceptor (hyper velocity 40gr) that I won't shoot. Only gun I have that can handle it is my Savage Mark II, and I already have it dialed in for CCI Standard Velocity because that's what it likes
