I normally order from Brassman or Diamondk brass. Love Brassman, but he didn't have any in stock at the time. DiamonK brass is good, but their shipping costs result in brass costing more.

I looked around the internet and saw Lonestar Brass in Texas with shipping rates lower than DiamondK brass. I decided to purchas some 45acp brass and 380 brass from Lonestar brass recently.

Shipping was not as quick a Brassman, suprising as Lonestar Brass is in the same state I reside in.

The 380 brass was excellent with no issues whatsoever. The 45 acp brass however, that was a different story. Every company gives the disclaimer about small pistol primers, but I've never had more than a handful of small pistol primers from Brassman or DiamondK. This time though, the number of small pistol primer 45 acp brass was very high. Out of my first 100 cases, 28 were small primers. I decided to sort out the brass to see how many small primer brass was in the mix. About 1/3 of a batch of 250 were small primers. It was a bit dissapointing, but they did have their disclaimer.

The lesson in all this is to stick with what you know, Brassman includes the cost of shipping, ships fast, and in the realm of 45 acp brass, their rate of large to small primers is great.

Not being a schill as I have nothing to gain on this, but now that I've experienced other once fired brass purchases, I have to say I regret not waiting and purchasing from a known (to me) vendor.

Also, I wonder if we will be seeing more and more small pistol primer 45acp? I would hope not. My firearms don't have any issues with either primer, but when reloading, it can get frustrating.

I'm sure that for any other type of brass it wouldn't be a problem, since my 380 acp brass was excellent.

You know what. I never thought of that. I remember you mentioning it in a different post.

So long as it's once fired and not a reload that's been used 15+ times..... :)

I'll keep that in mind for next time.

I'm fairly simple, heck I usually don't even opt for tumbled brass, but it definitely brings out an ugggghhh not again comment when I run into a small primer on the press.

I'll PM you for info when I need some more brass. THX

It seems all the CCI brass is small primer in 45 ACP. It would depend on the source of the brass the seller is getting it from. Some ranges use CCI ammo almost exclusively. Me, I would pay a small premium if it was sorted by primer size. I have a bud that gets all my SPP brass as he wants to use small primers only.

It can be frustrating to have the two mixed! I usually find mine from 45 acp range brass when my Dillon refuses to seat LPP. I just put it in a bag and save it for hard times when I can’t find LPP. Hehe

I bought 45 acp brass, 6K plus a few hundred pieces of 44 mag for 60 bucks from someone I got a contact from off this site. The guy has a contract with most of the indoor ranges in the Milwaukee area.
