Hey guys. I was wondering what your experience was in using Hodgdon longshot for pistol loads. I'm not sure how I ended up with a lb of it on my bench, but I did.

I dabbled with it in my .45 ACP, but I dont think the .45 has enough pressure to let the powder shine. Really inaccurate at the different charge weights I tried and a lot of unburned powder even with the lightest charges.

Has anyone used it in 9x19? If not what can I use it for that it will work well in?

If I cant find a pistol load it will work in, I guess I'll just have to take up Shotshell loading..

Ive only used it shotshells, nearly deafened myself and cooked myself at the same time. Save it for hunting shotshells. For pistol some guys use it for 357, 45 doesn't work real well from what I've read but not tried.

The only other caliber I currently reload is 40 S&W. I just started loading for pistols a month or so ago. In the near future, I'm looking into a .357 and a 460 S&W. So I will be loading those when and if I get them. I'll probably also load some 45 Colt if i get the 460, just for plinking rounds.

Works great for full power 9X19. OK at midrange but dirty, shows it's stuff at the top end.
Quite a bit of muzzle flash (for 9mm),LOUD, Longshot, AKA Loudshot.

Works OK in .357, not as high a vels as 296/H100. Some people have mentioned issues ith it cutting top straps there.
Don't know but hear it works well in .40 and 10mm.

I believe gamestalker really likes it for some pistol rounds.

I really like it in heavy 9mm loads and have tried it a little bit in 357 and it seemed fine. Doesn't seem to generate too much pressure as even at max charge and a very short oal I still got powder burns at the case mouth in my sr9c

Also works well in 357sig! As mentioned, it can be loud and obnoxious, but at its upper end, it can make things sizzle!

I've not used in my shotgun loads, but I know lots do.

I've used it in .45 auto, upper-end loads with jacketed bullets, and it has worked well for me. It works well in .32 H&R and .327 Federal Magnum, and in hot .357 magnum loads also. I have used it in .357 SIG, but I tend to like Blue Dot there.

The powder is for full-power cartridges around 35k PSI or more.

I use it for the .40S&W as it is very clean-burning and will continue to do so. Will also take a look at using it with magnums and possibly .45LC.

Good for 9mm and 40 SW, Yes I use it as I got a deal on 8lbs of it!:D

Sure it would be good in 357 mag also. I have not tried it yet, To many other things to load!

I use it mainly for 9mm, but I've used it with good results in .45auto and 200 grain bullets. Works best at high end. Very loud in .45 auto.

I have not done much load development in 9mm with Longshot but I have some chrono data I can share. Hopefully it will give you some insight in how it performs:

I have used it in .45 but not at it's best there by a Longshot. (pun intended, couldn't help myself :) )
Happier at the higher end of it's charge range.

I agree, not ideal with .45ACP. Works, but doesn't group tightly with medium loads.

Works great in 10mm, especially in 10mm carbine or Longslide applications. Good powder to get an undergassed 10mm AR going. Works well in 9x25.

I use it for all of my 357sig loads and full power .40 S&W loads because, as others have mentioned, it performs best when loaded on the hotter end of the spectrum. I have used it in 9mm and 20ga loads as well with reasonable success.
