Looked at a couple 22 handguns this week

1st off I really enjoy shooting my 22 caliber handguns, which at the moment are 4 Rugers. so this week I looked at the Ruger LCPII & Keltec P17. The Ruger is a tiny handgun, way too small for my hand. Just don't see how it would be fun to shoot for me because of its size. The other was the KelTec P17. The KelTec fit my hand much better and its really inexpensive, $179 at my LGS. But it felt like a toy, was mostly plastic and I'm concerned how it would hold up under heavy use. I've been burned by the cheap, poorly designed Taurus TX22 & I don't want to go through that again. I've read that the KelTec does at least have decent customer service so if it does fall apart KelTec will readily repair it. I know that it's inexpensive but I buy my handguns to shoot not to spend half the time being repaired. The other issue is will it run any brand , type bulk 22 ammo. 22 ammo is getting very scarce & getting pricy right now so I want a 22 that doesn't care what ammo is running through it.

I bought three TX-22's and we have been shooting them weekly for a few months now with few problems. about 2500 rds through three pistols. We did have 1 FTE in that time. Using Aquila bulk ammo.

Probably going to replace the recoil assemblies before there is a problem there:

Still, I have to say they are reliable and accurate. 10 shot 1" groups at 10 yds. No complaints.

Worth tracking down-

The S&W 422 and its variants. Mine has been very reliable and accurate. Honestly, its 90% as accurate as my M41 for 1/4 the $$.
