I'm looking to buy either an Arsenal Saiga sgl-20 or sgl-21. What are the differences between these two? I've only seen an sgl-20 on Bud's for $650 and it's always out of stock. Anyone know where to buy these at a good price?

As always they were up there. Last dec they had a sale on the SGL 21 for $500 . It runned for several weeks.

Horvath819,
Go to Gunbroker.com. There are many deals there. If you buy an out of state gun you can spare the taxes.
If you want a "milled" receiver I would reccomend the SLR-96. Just bought mine for $824 which included shipping. Better accuracy out of a milled receiver vs. a stamped. Here's what I got:

If this interests you PM me & I'll hook you up to contact the seller. He has a couple more. These are a sweet rifle. Lots of good write-ups. If I were home I would post the comments but I don't have those links on this computer.

Sgl-20 was discontinuted and replaced with the sgl21. Biggest diff was the sgl20 did not have the accessory lug (it does have a bayonet lug). There are some minor other differences as well I believe.

Can order direct from k-var.com.

nalioth,
You say there is no difference but let me make a point here. Let's take the Winchester model '94. How come there is a better interest in a "pre-64" model than the ones made after, stamped parts. With the test of time of these rifles, I see a greater demand for the "pre 64" as to later. So I guess this is a "myth" as well. But I don't want to argue this point. I was just offering an AK made by Arsenal that is "milled" that comes close to "stamped" prices. Stamped is only as good as the metal used (& treated) for the receiver as well as the thickness.

Here's a comment from AKWorld.com:

So, unless someone doesn't do valid comparisons - a WELL-MADE Chinese MAK-90, NHM-90 or Hungarian SA-85M - usually under $600 are a MUCH BETTER VALUE than a Saiga or VEPR Russian-made AK-47 Rifle! & for those who desire MILLED-Receiver AK-47's - the $800 - $900 average price for thumbhole Bulgarian SA-93, SLR-95, or SLR-96 beats the over $1000 prices for other MILLED AK-47's with silly bayonet lugs - like the Arsenal SA-M7, or a Poly-Tech Legend - with the Century Arms 1960 Polish Milled-Receiver AK-47 being like everything else from Century - a Gamble !!!

Bottom line: find what you like, just "google" it and I'm sure you'll find a good price somewhere, milled or stamped.

What does this have to do with claims of improved accuracy in a milled AK? I'm missing your point.

...and Russian Saiga's are, well, Russian. They are the original designers and the Saiga is built in the Izhmash factory where AK's have been built for decades. I don't think you're going to find metallurgy problems with their stampings.

Exactly what weight does this quote form AKWorld have in the discussion? It's written like an 8th grade kid with a D average in English.

The milled AK's were a short term fix to a manufacturing problem with the original design of the AK which called for a stamped receiver. The stamped AK is lighter and just as durable as the milled rifles. I've seen absolutely no evidence the milled AK is any more accurate than the stamped AK, but if you have evidence I would enjoy seeing it.
