Well it seems my Kel-tec Sub-2000 9mm order won't be filled as I was told and the 9mm CX4 Storm is more than I'm willing to spend on it (Can't find any used either) so I'm back to the drawing board. Not interested in a 995.

What options do I have left? Has to be NJ legal of course :fire:

The PC9 has gone out of production but can still be found here and there. I picked one up a few weeks ago from my local gun shop.

Look on gunbroker for a Marlin 9mm Camp Carbine. I bought one there for $286 total. It has a few scars but nothing that keeps it from working. Plus they are more accurate than you would think.

One thing to keep in mind is this. Use ammo that is loaded to SAAMI specs. When they first came out there was extra hot load data published for them that my buddy loaded in his. It blew the bolt back so hard that it bent a pin inside the action and jammed the hammer. I repaired it and he used the correct ammo and never had anymore problems.

Thats good advice for all of these guns since i believe they are all blow back actions.

I know you said no 995, and i'd defintely agree if it was left stock.

But I did a 995 build project about a month ago and have been loving the carbine, accurate, reliable, and cheap to feed. I got it as a heavily used range rental for next to nothing. Sent it back to Hi Point after hearing about their customer service. 20 days later it returned with a new slide assembly, firing pin assembly, mag release, and reciever cover. Plus 2 free magazines for my trouble.

Out of the box:

BUIS cowitness through the Eotech:

Total cost before I went and put on an Eotech 512 was under $300.00.

I reload for it and can get 1.5-2" groups at 25 yards and 3" groups at 50 yards, haven't played at 100 yet.

It was a fun project if you are looking for something different and a great shooter in the end.

where did you get that rail. my dad has one with the ATI stock and its a blast, literally, but hes been looking for some way to mount an optic, where did the rail and heat shield come from its looks great,

The rail was fabricated out of a piece of raw rail stock from Evolution gun works.

I drilled the holes to interface with the existing sight mounts on the reciever cover. I used and idea from a member over at the Hi Point forums for the front where he took the front sight, took off the sight ring, flipped it around backwards and used it as a front rail support. I just had to drill and tap the front for a 4-40 screw installed with loctite and the rail is rock solid. It was then painted with HK Black Duracoat.

The front handguard/heatshield is the orginal ATI stock upper handguard that I ventilated. I made a jig up and used a dremel tool to remove the material. Definitely a painstaking process but worth it in the end.

Really, its kinda hard to beat the Hi point. As I understand it, a new stock will be introduced this year from the factory.

Where in NJ are you? There are a couple of stores in Monmouth/Ocean that usually have them, unles there is a supply problem.

I gotta admit, that ATI stock does look pretty nice. I don't see anything wrong with the normal factory one though.

If you really want a Sub 2000 though, I'd post on here as a 'WTB' in the rifles for sale section. Someone will give theirs up.
