i found a sweet little p226 with a 40 s&w with a .357 barrel in great shape at a local gun shop going to look at it later this week if he still has it he want 650 for 2 mags and a hard case was wondering it this was a good price for a sig never owned one though going to put my paw on it see if i like it thanks for all the suggestion folk this is a great site and im am glad i found and joined you guys and gals, but again thanks for the advice well see how thing work out CAT

The plain jane, models go for $800+ new. So depending on condition, considering you get an extra barrel, that is a fair price.

The most comfortable shooting guns in 40 S&W that I have found are the CZ and the S&W M&P.

Add another point for the Smith M&P 40, I have one and have never found a 40 I've shot better or been more pleased with and there have been quite a few including a Taurus PT940, Star Firestar, Springfield XD and both the Glock 22 and 23. As an aside if you like the Sig 226, the SP2022 is a fine weapon and can be had in both 9 millimeter and 40 caliber for less than $500.00 new including night sites in most cases, however it is polymer framed like the Smith M&P, but if you can overlook that I think it compares favorably to the 226. I have one in 9mm and think it's one of the better DA/SA pistols out there for the price.

I agree 100%. If you want polymer, I'd go the M&P route. If you want steel, I'd get the CZ 75B. I have a CZ 75B .40 S&W in Satin Nickel. I really like it. Less recoil than my old Beretta 90-two and more accurate too.

All listed are great. I held an M&P 40 at my local LGS and really liked it, even though my next purchase will be a 1911.
I do ccw a full size USP 40 and love it.
