Buy "Used but not abused"
If money's an issue (like it is with most of us), consider buying used. When the police changed over to autos, lots of very nice revolvers got traded in, and they keep circulating at gun shows as their ownerst trade them back in for something else. Pawn shops also have deals sometimes.... you just have to be willing to do a lot of looking.
Lots of these don't have any real wear on them - and of course, the used Rugers are barely broken in, being built tough. Buying used also gets you past the "Hillary Hole" redundant lock.
Start hanging out with a buddy who knows revolvers and how to shop with 'em. You'll have fun hunting down a reasonable deal.
