I've been looking for a secluded piece of national forest land for the last few weeks and have had little luck. I'm begun to wonder if I can find a range somewhere that will fit my needs.
I'm in Colorado and I realize that most of you are not but more than anything I'm looking to find out how common these kind of features are in a range. I'd also welcome any suggestions for other factors I should consider.
reactive targets I get bored very quickly of shooting at paper. I need a range that will let me shoot at things that are more fun. Maybe shoot some steel, shoot some pins just for the heck of it, maybe some fruits or veggies, etc.
buddy passes I'd love buddy passes or something else that allows me to easily drag an additional person to the range without having to pay extra for it or jump through hoops. You'd think they'd welcome more potential members or even potential gun owners as many of us have non-shooting buddies that we can introduce.
defense drill practice I'd love to be able to practice different defensive drills. This would include being able to shooting from different positions (other than just standing, facing your target), malfunction drills, etc. Maybe doubletaps or rapid fire. Many ranges prohibit any of this stuff because anything other than standing and facing your target is more dangerous.
rentals Rentals are really good when you don't have buddies with a large selection of guns. Not as important as the other features but would still be good for me.
outdoors I think shooting in the outdoors is just more fun and enjoyable.
So, let me know if any of these things are available at your ranges. It might give me hope for finding a local range that suits my needs.
