Im looking for a cheap semi auto .308 for around $350 dollars. if you have any other suggestions for a cheap semi auto hunting rifles. id be willing to listen

A .308 Win semi-auto for hunting.

What kind of hunting?

I can think of nothing that would come new at that price. But you could try and find a used Remington 750. A Saiga or Cetme will be hard to find anyways, but if you find one used, they won't be in that price range. Those are a couple options as well.

As stated above, you won't find much in that price range except maybe a well used Remington 740, 742,or 7400. Saigas can be had for a few hundred more, but I wouldn't consider that a great choice as a hunting rifle. If $300 is all you can afford, you would get a lot better gun in a bolt action.

Cheap
Semi-auto
Good for hunting

Pick any two.

(of course, now that I said that, I can't think of an option if you pick cheap and semi-auto .308)

Not exactly what you asked for, but have you considered an SKS? They can be found easily for <$350, and 7.62x39mm with JSP bullets is a good performer at short to medium range.

A used Mini-Thirty can be had for $400-500 if you take your time and look around. Of course, that's 7.62x39, not .308 Winchester.

A sporter .308 Saiga can be had for just a bit more. Same with the Cetme, if you can ever find them in stock. Not many cheap guns in that caliber.

Saiga or maybe a Remington 7400. There's not much available at that price-point, even used.

A remington 742 or 7400 used. I have a 742 in 30-06 and paid 300 from a pawn shop and it was in good condition. The .308 nay be harder to find though.
If there is a .308 in that range will be getting one too.
The saiga .308 is 499 on atlanticfirearms.com that's the cheapest I've found so far

Last i looked, and it's been awhile, I saw .308 saigas for $400 when the others were at $350. Granted, they weren't in stock at any price ive seen them

For a while there you could get a CETME for that price, but I haven't seen one that cheap lately.

I'd say your best bet would be to hit the pawn shops and look for a beat up BAR or something. Don't bet on finding anything though. At most pawn shops or gun shows, $350 is about the starting price for a decent used bolt gun.

The cheapest semi auto .308 is probably a Saiga, and they are around $500 now.

Hard to find hunting semi autos in .308 that cheap. I see a few 30-06's in that price range. I saw a new Winchester semi in 30-06 for 499.00 a few days ago as well as a well used BAR.

id be using the gun for mainly hunting deer. i would like a 308 but if their are some other semi auto rifles ideal for deer i wouldn't mind.

ive seen the Saiga 308 but only the 16 " barrel i was looking for something that i could rely on for a greater distance

Yeah cetme's have gone way up. I hunted one deer with it open sights. Harvested him, but wasn't my ideal deer kill, so I'd follow the advice of get one that is for hunting like the remington or bar. My granddaddy had the remington in .243. Solid rifle decades later.

Waste not want not. :)

I'm not aware of any 308 rifle to be had within that price range. In 1988 I bought an AK-47 for about $350 dollars and they're still about the same price but you're not going to find any quality 308 semi-auto rifle for under $300 dollars. About the only rifle that falls in that range is going to be an SKS.

you may find one, but it will be a cheap piece of ***p, lowest prices will be the Saigas, after that save some money and get a good one or give up on that idea and drop down to a 7.62x39.

I just bought a Winchester model 100 in great shape in. 308 for $360 out the door at the LGS. Just a matter of being in the right place at the right time with cash in hand.

I would recommend that unless you get a quality reliable semi-auto such as a Browning BAR, FN FNAR or Benelli R1, I'd stick with a bolt-action.
