I am trying to find out the difference between scopes and red dot sites. I'm new to the whole thing and would like to learn more on this matter.

Trying to find the right red dot for my gsg 522 sd that will line up with my iron sites. Don't have to much to spend. A little help anyone.....:banghead:

Okay, so now you've decided on a red dot over a scope. Awesome. How much is "not much"? What is your intended use - i.e. plinking, competition, other? Give us a little more info so we can better help you.

Looking to spend around 200. Am looking at the vortex strikefire gen 1 low tac. mount hope it will line up with iron sites. I will be using it mostly for targets and to add to my home defense.

I have no experience on the Burris but have heard great things.

I picked up a Vortex SPARC for about $125 and it comes with 3 different mounts of varying height. Also a 2x magnifier, lens cover and spare set of batteries.

It has about 1000rds with it mounted to an AK 10" +/- SBR and has held zero fine. also have it on a 9mm AR SBR, no issues there as well. A friend has run one on a 12GA with no problems. Awesome quality for the money. Truthfully it has better features, easier to manipulate and better warranty then my aimpoint T1 Micro.

my buddy has that gsg. he put a bushnell tr-25 on it and has been very pleased. I don't believe there are any sights that will mount low enough to line up with the sights. run a google image search for "gsg522 scope" or "gsg522 red dot" and see if you like the looks and placement of anything.
