Looking for info on S&W commerative

A coworker is looking to replace a revolver that she sold many years ago because of her ex-husband. We have been asking around and searching the net and are coming up dry. Noone seems to have heard of this beast. I have hit the libraries, book stores, and a few local gun stores. Nothing.

So I am bring the quest to you. She says that what she had is a Smith and Wesson Bicentennial commemorative. It is .357 and has an 8" barrel. I don't know if it was blued or stainless. She told me that she bought it NIB in 1976 or 77. Sold it around 1980 and has been kicking herself since.

Does such an animal exist?

Thanks. All replies will be forwarded to her.

125th Anniversary 27

Could she be referring to the 125 year Model 27 S&W anniversary gun that was made in 1977? It had a 6 in bbl. They are being sold all over in the 500-650 range.

That's what others have been saying. I am tending to believe that that is what she had, but she still insists it was a Bicentennial.

According to the Standard Catalog of S&W the only "Bicentennial" revolver is a City of Los Angles 200th anniversary model 19. Don't know dates. sorry. The only one close to that is the 125th anniversary model already mentioned.
