Any pet loads you use? I recently got a Henry Big Boy 45LC. All I have shot were 255 gr hard cast in front of 8.5 gr Unique. In my Win 73 I have pretty much settled with 8.1 gr Unique behind a 255 gr (now 250 gr because I used up the 255 grs.) hard cast. But I'm more interested in finding a load for the Henry in the event I want to hunt with it. Would you use W296/H110 behind a cast or jacked bullet? I would think the Henry action could handle that.
Thanks in advance.

Might want to check your typing... 805grn Unique is a LOT of Unique! I'm guessing you meant 8.5 and 8.1grn, respectively.

For a standard velocity load, that 8.5grn Unique load is spot on... it's what I use for my brother's Trapper, and my Marlin when I had it. These days, I would probably give IMR4227 a try, particularly in the carbine barrel... it works fantastic in my .41 1894, but that is a Magnum-level cartridge; I don't really know how much the Henry action is designed for... I would probably check with the manufacturer before I started shoving cases loaded with H110 in it.

My 45 Colt load is 250gr/coated with 8.0 gr Unique. I shoot that in my Blackhawk and my Uberti 73. I don't have a hunting load, maybe Hornady site?

If you want to start working your way slower power pistol would be the next logical step to take especially if you want it to sound like a cannon. I second working up a 4227 load.
