??? I have no problem with the one I have?? Maybe there is something binding on yours? I just sweep my thumb down on the draw and it disengages every time...
It's not that it doesn't work, its that I don't WANT it. But, its there. For those that own the Shield, but are like me in that they think a safety on a DAO pistol is like teats on a bore hog, then leave it off. It would take a deliberate manipulation to engage/disengage it.
Unless you're looking for pocket size but you want slimmer (single stack), you might consider the Walther PPS if you want SA, or the SIG P239 if you don't mind DA/SA and the extra weight of metal versus polymer.
Pukindog12, thanks for the genitron.com link -- nice!
I hate to steer folk towards a pistol that I still want two more of but our Sig 230SL is just the bee's knees for IWB (front side or back), inside front pocket, inside my wife's purse, wherever. Smooth as, well, a Sig - safe as the day is long and as accurate and reliable as can bee.
I must say that some of the more popular suggestions really ought to be handled first. As much as I like Kahrs, they are far different in trigger feel when compared to many popular polymer frame pistols.
I converted my father to a Kahr for carry and have one in my own rotation as well but freely admit they aren't for everyone (initially).
I second "rtba" on his suggestion of the Sig P239. It is available in 9mm, .357Sig and .40S&W, I purchased mine in .40 S&W and just recently bought a .357Sig barrel for it. One way to protect against ammo shortage in one caliber or the other. I use a Theis IWB holster and it wears well all day long.
In the PDX area I have had the best luck at The Gun broker, they have a couple locations i only ever go to the Clackamas one but they always have a good selection of smaller guns. i picked up mine there a couple weeks ago.
Keiths sporting goods in Gresham has an even larger selection but i havent been there in a few months so i dont know what there stock looks like but they are the largest seller in the area.
